The shortage of skilled trades is affecting most of us in the construction industry. My team has been recruiting crew members for a couple of months now, with n...o success. We are in a challenging situation. My kids have been working hard to encourage more youth and women to join the skilled trades. The skilled trades shortage is a real issue, and I am proud of the efforts of my kids in encouraging the youth to try the trades as a career. We need to promote the skilled trades as a viable career. Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce South Temiskaming Covid Recovery Project Coordinator Contract Position: December 2020 November 2022... Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will promote the regional and economic sector opportunities, assist enterprises in their reopening efforts and support businesses to identify and resolve hurdles to undertake a successful recovery, ensuring the retention and growth. - Implement and Deliver a PPE program - Administer Digital Mainstreet Program to provide training to small businesses regarding putting their business or products online to make them available to a greater marketplace. - Develop photography and videography database of up to date imagery of the region. - Develop and implement a regional Support Local campaign encouraging area residents to support local businesses. - Assist with the implementation of tourism attraction program - Assist with the implementation the workforce attraction program. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: Successful completion of a College Diploma or University Degree in Tourism, Economic Development Communication, Marketing or related field; Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office and strong social media skills Excellent communication skills including the ability to meet one on one with businesses Preference will be given to mature individuals with initiative, enthusiasm and knowledge of the local business community. Bilingualism is an asset. This full-time position is supported by FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program.
