Group classes for the week of March 1st are now available here: https://epicfencingclub.sites.zenplanner.com/calendar.cfm We have decided to stick with the same group lesson schedule for the week of March 1st and the week is now open for registration. We aware the Alberta Government may announce changes to restrictions this week, but we trust our members will understand that we will need time to adjust to any changes and most likely will not account for them until next week.
Februrary Limited Group Classes for Youth Due to the changing of COVID restrictions this past weekend, Epic has decided to offer limited weekly appointment based group lessons for any members under the age of 18. These lessons will focus on footwork conditioning, limited bladework with the coach, and individual fitness. Bouting will not be allowed during the current restrictions. Due to the uncertainty around COVID and the rate at which restrictions are changing we will offer...Continue reading
Updated COVID Restrictions for Group Classes We are aware that on Saturday the Alberta Government modified the restrictions around team sports that seem to allow clubs to do limited in person group training for youth. This caught all sports organisations in the province by surprise and we are doing our best to confirm the details around the restriction change. We as a club are working with our provincial sport organisation (Alberta Fencing Association) to interpret these chan...ges and determine exactly what we are allowed to offer for in person classes. We will let our members know as soon as we have confirmation that we are allowed to run limited classes again and what those classes will look like. In the meantime we will still be offering one on one training for this week, and encourage our members to take advantage of them while they are available.
As many of you have heard the restrictions on gyms in Alberta should be changing starting February 8th, 2020. https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx February One on One Training... While we are still unable to run group classes we will be able to offer one on one training with Coach Peter at the club. If there are any further changes to restrictions by the province we will inform our members as soon as possible. Lessons will still be at a significantly reduced rate of $15 for a 25 minute session for any of our members. Peter will be available weeknights and Saturday mornings for private lessons until the provincial restrictions change. All private lessons will be at the main NE location. Members of all ages and abilities are encouraged to take part in a private lesson. This is a fantastic opportunity to have some one on one time with Coach Peter with a lesson targeted specifically to you. Anyone who wishes to book two back to back lessons are asked to please contact coach Peter prior to booking them to make sure it’s appropriate for their age and skill level. To book a private lesson follow to the link below and pick the time your are interested in booking. https://epicfencingclub.sites.zenplanner.com/scheduler.cfm
As many of your have probably already heard, the province has decided to extend the COVID restrictions another two weeks. This means that Epic will not be holding in person classes at least until January 22, 2021. While we are closed, Coach Peter is offering FREE zoom classes that all are welcome to attend. We encourage all of you to take advantage of these sessions. Watch your email for more details on the online classes. As you know registration has already opened but we ar...e still unable to resume in person classes and we do not have a firm reopening date. Some of you have already registered and we thank you for that. Going forward we would like to ask that you do not yet pay for your classes until such a time as in person classes resume. We will be watching the government closely to see when we will be able to open and will pro-rate the class fees accordingly. We will also apply your credit to the class. We have made registration permitted without payment. This way we can gauge interest, and you as parents and fencers don’t have to worry about finances while the club is closed.Lastly we would like to clear up some confusion with credits. Everyone who was registered for Fall of 2020 does have a credit. The amount varies depending on what you or your child had registered for. You can contact our registrar Tamara ([email protected]) for the amount of your credit. See more
We are wishing Merry Christmas to all our current and former members! The Epic Team

Dear Epic Fencing Club Families, Alberta Health Services has just recently updated the list of banned sports in Alberta during the two week targeted public health measures and unfortunately fencing is now considered a banned sport. https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx... This means all classes at Epic Fencing Club, Trico and the University of Calgary are cancelled as of today, November 13, until November 27th. We will continue to monitor the situation and plan to resume classes on Saturday November 28th unless we hear otherwise from the Alberta Government. We thank everyone for their patience, understanding and continued support and we hope to see you at the club again soon. Richard Bezemer President, Epic Fencing Club [email protected]
