March 26th is our National Support Day. Today is the day we ask the world to show support for people & families living with epilepsy using the colour purple. Whether you wear something purple, light up purple neon signs, sell purple cupcakes, light a purple candle, use a purple light bulb in a lamp for a day, etc. We appreciate all the support & hope you will join us today in showing off your purple. Happy Purple Day & Happy Friday Everyone!
Did You Know? Epilepsy is an umbrella term for seizures. Seizures are a neurological disorder because they happen when neurons misfire & cause an electrical storm in the brain, thereby causing a seizure. Seizure disorders can have many causes or be triggered by lesions, tumours, accident/injury to the brain, infection, chemical imbalances from drugs, alcohol, hormones, diabetes, stress, trauma & other life, work & environmental factors. - Epilepsy is NOT contagious - Anyone a...Continue reading
I answered a post today regarding how can I lower my blood sugars naturally?. This & many other questions come up a lot so I wanted to share what I think... There are many factors that can cause blood sugars to get out of balance (diet, medications, stress, allergies, sleep patterns, genetics, age). Unfortunately people are living so fast paced, I think in part, people often just don’t bother to consider how some of their choices are affecting them (or going to affect their b...odies) until there’s a problem. And I get that some people just have the attitude, why worry before you need to. But this world is changing so much & with more & more unpredictable viruses circulating I’m not so sure the help will be there how you want it or how you will need it down the road. Many of us just about to get into our senior years would like to enjoy some of those years not worrying constantly about health issues. Believe me, I know what that’s like. Which is why I believe we can do some simple things to help ourselves & our families. If you haven’t heard of adaptogenic herbs then I will tell you a bit about them. In Auryvedic medicine adaptogens are special herbs that adapt to our bodies needs, helping repair & heal as the body requires. Adaptogenic herbs help protect our organs when pathogens are trying to do damage. Unlike viruses that adapt to our bodies, breaking down our system, causing inflammation & free radical damage. Especially as we get older many areas of the immune system start to break down & we often need a boost to get back on track, or sometimes, stay on track. For more information on adaptogens & how they work check out the link below. https://draxe.com/nutrition/adaptogenic-herbs-adaptogens/ If you have any questions I would be happy to try & answer them See more

This pandemic is terrible & terrifying in so many ways. With Pfizer being one of the many drug companies involved in the race to get vaccines out for this coronavirus, one of the biggest fears for many of us who take medications for various diseases/disorders is a drug shortage for the medications we already depend on... https://www.thewoodstocklocal.com//this-could-be-fatal-f/
Please read. Thanks!
Very well said (I can relate)
A cheering/support section is only helpful to a point... Accepting oneself is the hardest step & the most necessary step to feeling content/complete; to be able to accept the challenges life has delivered. Clap for yourself. You don’t have anything to prove to anyone except yourself.
Excellent article... https://esteemology.com/how-the-universe-tells-you-its-tim/
Do you or a loved one struggle with sensitivities to pressure changes due to a chronic condition? You may want to read the link below. I have epilepsy. Uncontrolled convulsions at night were so intense my heart constantly hurt; now it’s only sometimes. A tonic clonic event generally forces the body’s internal pressure to a high altitude very quickly for a very short time & then back down. The extreme pressure causing the body to feel symptoms similar to high altitude sickness...; headaches, nausea, fatigue, pain, etc. After going through the seizure trauma time & again I now get symptoms of HACE. First & foremost for me I always worry about my digestion. I have had to relearn what I can eat so my stomach doesn’t have to overwork to process. There is so much I just can’t eat anymore; the process creates too much pressure, reacting like an allergic reaction. It’s a good thing I have a really small appetite because small meals are best & supplements are a must. Whenever a storm is brewing or we have extreme winds I can immediately feel the pressure change & also get a lot of pain. I don’t even have to know the forecast or see the sky. I sometimes even wake up in the middle of the night if something is happening. Seizures have affected my body so badly we installed a special unit to help equalize the overall pressure in the house. Thankfully I no longer have to run to open all the windows when there is a storm & I sleep much better. As well my smurf feet are finally keeping their normal colour most of the time. And on the occasions where I am still affected I can go downstairs to the recroom & that helps. Or I will have a foot bath & use Epsom salts. *if you or someone you know is experiencing this please DO NOT ignore the symptoms. get some help - get it diagnosed - try to stop it from happening* https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK430916/ See more
