A local owner has four horses entered in the most prestigious quarter horse championship in North America. Chuck Stojan will be watching on with anticipation wh...en his horses - Stripsteak, Light Footed, Flight Club and Getit Hot - compete in the Bank of America Championship Challenge races in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday. All four horses earned the right to compete in the championships after regional finals held at The Horses At Evergreen Park at JDA Raceway in the summer. Stripsteak is entered in the $250,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship over 440 yards; Light Footed is competing in the $150,000 Derby Challenge Championship over 400 yards; Flight Club is entered in the 350 yard John Deere Juvenile Classic for a purse of $125,000; and Getit Hot competes in the $10,000 Distaff Challenge over 400 yards. One of the leading riders on the Alberta B Circuit was injured today. Jockey Blandford Stewart had a horse come over on top of him and broke his pelvis in 3 p...laces. This happened at the racetrack in Lethbridge during morning training . We wish Blandford a very speedy recovery on what will be a long road ahead. We can also tell you that he has been transported to FOOTHILLS Hospital in Calgary and is awaiting a surgeon. A plate will be put in place to repair the broken pelvis. More details will be given when we receive some. See more
