A brand new BodyTalk client said the following to me at the end of her very first session: "I'm so glad you left Engineering to do this work". I don't think she could ever understand how much those words meant to me. Damn near started crying right there in front of her (don't worry, the Engineer would not let that happen bahaha!). She couldn't know how hard it was to switch careers, how much self doubt I had (and sometimes still have). Her simple sentence, said so casually, changed my week! You don't know the impact your simple, casual statements can make. So when you think something nice, SAY it! I've only got 3 session times left for the next two weeks if you want to get in on the BodyTalk magic that had me switch my entire life around!

New podcast alert!! I don't know about you, but I don't have the energy or frankly the desire to make big changes right now. However I do want to feel as well as I can. In the newest episode of The Wellness Ninja podcast, I am sharing the things that are helping me really enjoy life right now and that allow me to support my health without it being a big deal or taking up all my time or brainpower. Podcast available on Itunes, Google Music and, I am exited to say, also on Spotify!

Can you stay uncomfortable long enough to let your curiosity out? Something I talk about a lot is how your curiosity is your superpower. Using it to go beyond the surface level understanding and response. Usually this is in reference to the root cause of health issues you may be experiencing. But it also applies to other aspects of you life. Can you let yourself feel uncomfortable long enough to get curious about some pretty real and serious issues, beyond your current surf...ace level understanding? How do I know we have surface level understanding? From the very defensive, angry, annoyed, self-righteous comments I have been witnessing lately, including some of my own. I am no longer comfortable keeping things surface level and being satisfied with my own "rightness". I assume if you follow me here, then you also are no longer comfortable. And so I invite you to get really curious at what's below the surface that is uncomfortable. If you think you don't have white privilege because you have gone through hard things and life is not easy for you, then you actually don't understand what white privilege is. Get curious. If you find yourself talking about reverse racism as if its a real thing, then you don't actually understand what racism is. Get curious. If you find yourself replying to blacklivesmatter with 'All lives matter', then you actually don't understand what the Black Lives matter movement is about. Get curious. If you find yourself saying 'riots are not how to handle this', then you actually don't understand the systemic issues happening and the things that lead to rioting. Get curious. If you find yourself thinking how the US is so racist and you are glad you live in Canada, then you don't really understand what's happening in Canada in terms of racial issues. Get curious. I am not an expert in these topics. I am a student. I ask questions and question my own knee-jerk responses and righteous anger. I find people much smarter than I and I listen and try to understand more. So when I say get curious, I mean ask better questions, listen to actual experts, and take real action. There are so many resources available to you that "I don't know what to do" is a lame excuse. Put some effort into this. I have definitely been guilty of feeling sad and overwhelmed by what I learn and found it easier to just do nothing (that's a part of my white privilege by the way). So be better than past me and actually take some action. And I promise to as well. Found a great resource? Share in the comments please.

Good reminder about using not citrus oils on your skin in the sun. Same concern for when you are using lemon/limes in your beers or margaritas!
