10 Ridiculously Easy Ways to Improve your riding: 1. Switch your mindset from being a passenger to being a "rider"/trainer. If your "go to" is to sit up there and see what happens and deal with it, now's the time to change that and start DIRECTING what is happening. 2. Start small and build life long habits and discipline.... It may be too much to do a whole month without stirrups, so, just try 5 minutes at the beginning (or end) of each ride. and build on that. 3. Pick one exercise and stick with it. don't try to perfect it, just make it better. If your circles are bad, then plan your ride to improve your circles. Actually set out an exercise that will help you. Put out some cones, get a lunge line and set out poles, be inventive and have a purpose. but don't jump to a new exercise until you have improved the one you have set out to improve. 4. Find your (and your horse's sweet spot) This means if you are tired and finished what you wanted to get done in 30 minutes, then leave it at 30 minutes. Llikewise, if you think that 60 minutes or more is what you need to do then great. Keep working. ... read the rest right here http://www.thistleridgestables.com/10-ridiculously-easy-wa/

It's today! Join us live on Facebook or youtube where we will be talking about horse riding confidence with our guest Laura King of Summit Hypnosis and Wellness. "If you are an equestrian, you know riding requires athletic agility and stamina for both rider and horse.Because the horse responds directly to your emotions and commands, it also requires that you remain calm while performing in front of a crowd. Add the extremely competitive nature of competitive riding, and it ca...n sometimes be too much to handle. Competitive riding requires the rider to have complete mental confidence in themselves and their horse. We see equestrians in our offices who have lost confidence in their riding ability who go on to earn many trophies and ribbons." ~ from the Summit Wellness website. #horseshowlife #horseplanet #horsesofig #horseselfie #equitation #hunterjumper #hunterjumpers #horsesoftheday #equitationhorse #equitationrider #equestrianproblems #equestrianblogger #equestriansport #aremyheelsdown #equestrianskillbuilders #laurakellandmay #dreamhorse #healthyhorse

i recently got asked this question... What is your most important "must - have" when you are purchasing a horse? For me, the horse has to be suitable for me. That sounds like a cop out i know, but the hrose has to have a personality that suits me. What I would buy now is not something that I would have purchased a few years ago.... The horse has to be kind and willing. As someone said to me recently, you you can't train a good mind. There are a lot of things you can train but a good mind isn't one of them. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten. Tony Robbins This is where you have to implement those changes. Those tiny bits of progress that over time, add up to massive change.... When you focus on the end result, and the huge changes you would like to see, you get overwhelmed and your motivation plummets. Instead, think of a small change in the right direction.
