The students in my MKTG 1554 Fundamentals of Branding class are having an absolute love fest on the discussion board telling each other IN DETAIL what they appreciated about each other's Brand Proposal team projects that they presented last week. This is why I love my job. Happy Friday everyone! #instructorlife #bcit #remoteteaching
For my marketing students (though many will be too young to get the Beatles reference )
Can't believe the winter term for Part Time Studies at BCIT is soon coming to a close. Loved all the students in this class (MKTG 1554, Fundamentals of Branding), and it was so great to see their excellent presentations this Wednesday. It is pretty amazing how far we've come- these students created meaningfull and detailed brand proposals in teams over the second half of term- all at a distance. I would never have predicted how rewarding online teaching could be when "the great pivot" began this time last year. Despite all the sitting and screentime (which is admittedly very, very hard to deal with) - real learning happens. I'm proud of all of us! #remotelearning #remoteteaching #bcit
Can you help a group of my BCIT students with their Business Consulting Project by filling out their survey? BCPs are a capstone project that involve market research and planning for clients in industry. This one is about a breakfast food product. Might make you hungry! http://snapsurvey.bcit.ca/snapwebhost/s.asp
Great time talking to entrepreneurs in The YMCAs Self Employment program today. Talked about branding and workshopped how to meaningfully differentiate and communicate your value.
To all the designers I know:
And so it begins... #retail
Yes or no? I mean, I guess I’m close to the target market on this but I’m a hard no....
A friend and colleague sent me this. Relatable! #FridayFunny
Led a branding workshop for the YMCA's Self Employment program on Tuesday- and what struck me is how well everyone is adapting to distance learning. I was able to learn a lot about the different entrepreneurs in the workshop and offer specific branding advice, as well as connect with many great people through the chat, video sharing, and audio. I remember the first virtual workshop I did back in the spring- I was so worried that I would not be able to effectively help anyone! While I still prefer face to face- it was fun this week to meet new, keen business owners and talk about the power of branding - and if felt like real, legit, human connection. Do you feel like virtual meetings, classes, and learning are becoming easier all the time? Humans. We're adaptable!
One of my students posted this new Axe ad in our discussion thread- and I think think it's adorable as well as relatable. Made me smile! #advertising
McDonalds has donuts now. Discuss.
The clothes you wear are powerful signifiers- to yourself as well as to others. I like business on top, relaxed on the bottom when working online from home- how about you? #communications
For my marketing students...
A step in right direction? Or a drop in the bucket... #sustainablemarketing
I agree- thankful to all the students who share their screen and show me they’re alive and listening! Even better when they share audio and participate. Online learning works when we use all the communication tools that are available to us. We can build great connection and engagement. Share your screen! #onlinelearning Edit: of course I understand if you can’t share screen or have personal issues with it. Share audio, join the chat and communicate in any way that is comfortable.

So many good things happening here
Enjoying meeting all my new students online as the fall term starts this week. Welcome back everyone! It may not be a typical BCIT fall term, but I have the feeling it's going to great. We can do this, right?
I for one, am very sad to see summer winding down. But there are always new fall treats to look forward to right? #seasonalmarketing https://www.trendhunter.com/tren/caramel-apple-pie-blizzard
