Ryan gazing off into the distance pondering his next epic human feat of human endurance and strength. On his last epic endeavour, he climb the equal amount in vertical ascent as the worlds 7 summits. He climbed the total vertical of each of the 7 summits over the course of one week. For reference, he climbed over a vertical marathon! Literally climbed more then 42km!!! Ghost riders on the Wapusk Trail. The obvious thing to do after being woken up at 3am to the announcement of incredible Northern Lights was to get dressed and go check them out! We put on just enough gear to not be totally miserable, grabbed the bikes, camera and went for a ride! Gear and equipment talk. Some gear definitely makes a difference to your speed, reliability and performance. BUT first and foremost work with what you have and what’s in your budget! New gear doesn’t make the ride any happier, the company any better or the memories any fonder. If you are outside in nature and having fun, that’s 99% of it right there. Now, for those wondering what gear I am turning to consistently while rolling around the bush on my big wheels, read on:-) @rsd...bikes Mayor Bike. @45nrth Dillinger 5 tires, gloves and cobra fist bar mits, ragnarok boots most of the time but I bust out the big wolfgnar boots for when the temps get cold. @shimanomtb @rideshimano XT 12 speed group set, simply the most reliable components I have found. @wahoofitnessofficial Element Roam gps device. I have 3 full winters and 2 big expeditions on my @wovenprecision wheels and they are still riding like a dream! @lazersport helmets, protecting what’s inside your skull is key! For bags and carrying supplies I use both @revelatedesigns @blackburndesign A great find that I have been using is @lululemon softshell running pants for riding. They are semi tight, wind resistant and Uber comfy, I think they are the training joggers. The rest is pretty standard and varies by temp, duration, intensity etc. Any questions about gear or kit?
