Following Premier Doug Ford's April 7th announcement of the Stay-At-Home-Order, we are still offering public Masses at 15% capacity. The only change is that unfortunately, we are unable to offer overflow seating in our parish basements. IMPORTANT: If you registered for the parish hall at St. Mary's for 9:00am this Sunday (April 10) YOU STILL HAVE A SEAT, we simply moved your reservation from the hall to the Church.

This week for #FaithFilledFriday we are learning about St. Hildegard of Bingen. St. Hildegard, also known as "Sibyl of the Rhine," was born around to "a noble family" and was the youngest of 10 children. While it is unclear if it was due to a medical condition or if it was something that she caught, Hildegard became sick. When Hildegard was 8 years old, "her parents [] promised their sick daughter to God," placing Hildegard in the care of Blessed Jutta, a Benedictine nun. Hi...Continue reading

This week for #FaithFilledFriday we are learning about St. Valentine. Very little of St. Valentine's life is reliably known. It is highly agreed, however, that St. Valentine was martyred and then buried to the north of Rome. One common story associated with Valentine is that, at one point while he was a Bishop, he was placed under house arrest by Judge Asterius. "While discussing religion and faith with the Judge, Valentine pledged the validity of Jesus." The judge immediatel...y tested St. Valentine and his faith: "Valentine was presented with the judge's blind daughter and told to restore her sight. If he succeeded, the judge vowed to do anything for Valentine. Placing his hands onto her eyes, Valentine restored the child's vision." "Judge Asterius was humbled and obeyed Valentine's requests. Asterius broke all the idols around his house, fasted for three days and was baptized, along with his family and entire 44 member household. The now faithful judge then freed all of his Christian inmates." Valentine was later arrested once again for continuing to try to convert people to Christianity. The story goes that Valentine was imprisoned for aiding Christians being persecuted by Claudius, the emperor, in Rome, as well as marrying Christian couples, some versions saying that this was so the husbands wouldn't have to go to war. "Both acts were considered serious crimes." A relationship began to develop between Valentine and the emperor. However, upon Valentine trying to "convince Claudius of Christianity," Claudius became enraged and "sentenced Valentine to death, commanding him to renounce his faith or be beaten and beheaded" - which Valentine adamantly refused to do. St. Valentine was martyred sometime between the year 269 and the year 280, and is the Patron Saint of bee keepers, engaged couples, epilepsy, fainting, greetings, happy marriages, love, lovers, plague, travelers, and young people. St. Valentine, Pray for us!

Today's #musicmonday is from Bethel Music member, Cory Asbury, titled The Father's House. Do you define yourself by your career? By your friends group? By your talents? By your family? By your fears? By your failures? By your mental or physical health? Those things don't define who you are. Never have, never will. Your worth, your value comes from God the Father, not your worldly successes or shortcomings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOcZnQdbDQE
"As we begin another year, we draw inspiration from the selfless love of the Theotokos (God-bearer), who never hesitated to do the will of God. And we trust in her prayers to God for us, that we might, as the years pass, become more like her. O Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!" -Scott Richert
