The Umbrella Project theme for November is GRATITUDE. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful. It is an essential skill that helps us keep our focus on what we have instead of what we do not have. This skill is especially important at a time when there are so many restrictions in place at home, school and in the community. More info will be on the board website Nov 2. UGDSB launches The Umbrella Project to support mental health and well-being September 29, 2020... GUELPH, Ontario The last year has been a very challenging time for students, staff, parents/guardians and community members as we have navigated through the changes brought on by COVID-19. At the Upper Grand District School Board, we value mentally healthy schools, classrooms and work sites. This year, in order to further help support the mental health and well-being of UGDSB students and staff, we are introducing The Umbrella Project to schools and offices. The Umbrella Project, founded by Dr. Jen Forristal, will have monthly themes, activities and curriculum links to support students and staff to focus on wellness. There will also be monthly columns in school newsletters to support parents and guardians to build these skills alongside their child/ren. The symbol of an umbrella is used to represent the ways in which our skill sets can protect us from and help us work through some of the stressors we are faced with. Just like the weather, there will be calm days and stormy days. Since we can’t control the weather, we will help ensure that we all have a strong umbrella to help us weather the storm. Monthly themes will be posted to the UGDSB website starting in October and concluding in June. October will be used as an introductory month. Update: Due to COVID-19 restrictions fall graduation ceremonies are cancelled September 22, 2020 We would like to provide our 2019-20 graduating students with an update from the school board.... As you may recall, in the spring we announced that plans for grad ceremonies were to be postponed with the hope that we could come together to celebrate in the fall. However, due to ongoing restrictions with respect to large gatherings, it will not be possible for schools to hold commencement ceremonies this fall. We understand that this will be disappointing news, but at this time the number one priority is the safety of all our students and school community, and to do what we can to limit the spread of COVID-19 by adhering to the physical distancing and health and safety protocols in place. We were pleased that we were able to celebrate our graduating students in new ways in the spring, through grad celebration signs and celebratory videos, and in the coming weeks, we will be working on plans for getting graduates their diplomas, awards and graduation packages. We will communicate further about this in the coming weeks. Thank you for your understanding.

Such a great afternoon! I got cheer with the staff as the EDHS grade 12 grads came to get pics taken with the decorations. So nice to be a part of the team! Congrats Raiders! Thank you !!
