Daylight Savings Time - Sunday, March 14 @ 2:00 am - set your clocks ahead one hour. Use this as a reminder to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. County residents can drop their alkalline batteries (up to D size) into the Battery Tubes located in all 14 Wellington County Library branches. The collected batteries will be recycled to make steel. #townoferin

Compost Available for Town of Erin Gardeners! The Town of Erin Environment and Sustainability Advisory Committee has arranged for 10 yards of high quality compost to be made available to Town of Erin gardeners. All proceeds will go to East Wellington Community Services. Because of Covid-19, we are asking that payment be made via e-transfer to: [email protected] The compost was generously donated by John Leenders 519-831-0100.
DYK that turtle nesting season is upon us and that turtles often nest along the shoulders of roads due to their sandy substrate? Female turtles looking for nesting sites along roadsides or trying to access nearby wetlands are at risk of mortality from vehicle traffic. If your property is home to turtle habitat, turtle crossing signs are available to remind drivers to slow down. The signs are $5 each - contact any member of ESAC or call Jay at 519-362-3383 to get yours. And for more information on threats to Snapping Turtles and what you can do to help, visit: https://www.erin.ca//use/files/SAR%20Snapping%20Turtle.pdf.
Today is the first Provincial Day of Action on Litter. By reducing single use plastics, choosing products with less packaging, and properly recycling, we can reduce waste in our home and community.
ESAC has extended the deadline for nominations for our 2020 Environment Award to May 31, 2020!
Spring is almost here! Do you have your rain barrel yet? Rain barrels conserve water, reduce runoff, and promote plant and soil health. And, they are available for pick-up right in town for only $60! Call Jay at 519-362-3383 to get yours.
