I often get questions from clients and friends about the difference between pediatric PT and OT I get it, it can be a bit confusing especially because at times there is overlap and a different group may address the skill in different organizations. Soooo to try to help ease the confusion I teamed up with the wonderful @catherapyservices @catherapyservices_guelph to do a series of posts to help explain the difference between OT and PT, what we each do, when we overlap, w...ho to call, basically all the questions we typically get asked! Stay tuned over the next few posts to learn more! #pediatricPhysio #pediatricoccupationaltherapy #kidsphysio #kwawesome

This! So much this Posted @withregram @mommyandme.pt LET’S JUST SEE! Like + save this or share with another mama Have you ever had a concern about your baby’s development and you were met with well, let’s just wait until ‘x’ months old and see what happens... You guys know I’m all about grace, love and positivity, but can I be honest? It burns me up when mamas tell me they have been given the wait and see line. It is outdated, unproductive and not helpful to moms ...who have concerns about their child. Research shows over and over again that early intervention is best practice. The earlier a child is evaluated, the less habits + compensations have developed, the less treatment they need, the less money and time is needed to get us back on track! Babies are changing, growing and developing SO fast in the first year it only makes sense to address any concerns as early as possible. What is it going to take to stop this wait and see mindset? I’ll tell you, mama: YOU + ME! It’s going to take us speaking up and advocating for our kids when something doesn’t seem right. It’s going to take us knowing our rights to direct access and seeking out evaluations on our own, if needed. It’s going to take us educating other moms + healthcare professionals that LET’S JUST SEE what an evaluation determines is never a waste of time if it keeps our littles on track and eases our mama minds! If you have ever been brushed off with wait and see here is your permission slip to keep advocating until you get the support you need!

Posted @withregram @embodia This weekend, hundreds of hopeful PT grads across Canada were prepped and ready to take the first-ever virtual PCE exam. 6+ years of school, 1000 clinical placement hours, thousands of hours of studying, and immeasurable amounts of stress, anxiety, and anticipation leading up to this one day that decides whether you join the profession, or not. The exam was cancelled due to technical failure. For many of the candidates, this was the 3rd... time the exam has been cancelled on them. Candidates have been unjustly wearing the brunt of the circumstances both financially and emotionally. Thank you to the CPA for their immediate action and support to the candidates. Thank you to all the physiotherapists, clinics, and organizations who are doing their part to support our new grads as they navigate this incredibly frustrating situation. It's time for a change. #pce #timeforchange #pttogether #ptnewgrad #physiotherapist #physio #newgrad See more

Getting emails like this from happy parents is one of the reasons I LOVE my job. No, not for the thanks (although that is always nice) but seeing kiddos make great progress towards their goals! It's important to celebrate the small goals on the way to the big goals! So let's celebrate this one #smallgoals #friyay #letscelebrate #pediatricphysio #kidsphysio #kwmoms

Core, core, Core! You've probably heard about core strength a lot in the adult fitness world, BUT did you know it's sooooo important for kiddos! It really is the foundation for many other skills. A weak core can look very different depending on the age of the child and the child themselves. Some clues are:... A little one only playing in W-sitting (no other sitting postures) Not being able to get between laying on their back and sitting upright Slouches in their seat at school or the dinner table Wiggles lots and lots when asked to sit at a table Struggles to keep up with peers and/or doesn't enjoy rough and tumble play Poor handwriting (often not in isolation but if there are other concerns and this it's a hint it could be a core strength issue) We have training in Dynamic Core for Kids which we feel is an amazing tool to approach core strength issues. Our families have seen wonderful changes using this technique. Reach out if you feel your kiddo has a weak core that is affecting their function or if you are interested in learning more about Dynamic Core for Kids.
