Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for. This little turkey, for one thing! Last year at this time I was just hoping not to feel too first trimester sick to make dinner, and this year I have her in my arms. She’s usually always smiling and interacting these days... but not in this photo

Happy 4 months to my little cutie! You are so adored by your parents and your 4 siblings. Also, it would be great if you would sleep at night. After 5 kids I seriously have no theories on sleep left. Any tips?! Maybe things I've forgotten over the last 12 years?

Life is very busy right now with five kids, including a 3 month old. And homeschooling. Sometimes it just all clicks along, and sometimes I feel like it's a struggle just to be functional. Some days we all get dressed and accomplish our math goals and enjoy discovery in nature. Other days we don't. Most days I don't get a chance to do any photography. But some days I do. And sometimes it's magic and fuels my soul.

I'm enjoying my mat leave. But it has meant not getting to shoot during this beautiful summer very often. Every now and then I get the chance to head out with my supermodels and just have fun. This is a place I've driven past 100 times. Anyone in KW know where this is?

Photographers can re-open!!! I’m so happy for my colleagues in Ontario, who have the green light to book clients again. But as for me, I’m still closed, but for the most wonderful reason.

It’s a GIRL!!!

It is hard to believe that this photo session was back in March. I had so wanted to complete this Mother Nature portrait as a welcome to spring. What happened next really threw me for a loop, especially with a baby on the way. But I finally was able to finish it... with a baby due any day now!

I thought I would use this time to create art. But my inspiration has temporarily run dry. I have all the time in the world for once, but my heart isn’t in it. Instead, I’m using my day to sew surgical caps for my husband to help protect him while he’s treating sick patients at the hospital.

Look at these gorgeous tween BFF’s work it! Wind in their freshly curled hair, light makeup complete with a one-on-one tween makeup lesson, and those awesome denim jackets. And I realized that I do tell most groups to stand awkwardly close together at some point during almost every session. I am loving these tween sessions! Behind the scenes from today’s BFF tween session! The girls celebrated a birthday with fancy cupcakes, lots of treats, drinks in champagne glasses, and they each had a one-on-one makeup lesson with Audrey Oliver-Moir of SPAudreyKW. These will be portraits to remember!

Remember when they were little and it was easy to solve their problems by doing something so simple like baking cookies together? As they grow up life can become more complicated. They face new problems, new pressures and new feelings, and you can't always be there to hold their hand. And between school and friends and activities, life can get busy. What if we slow right down for a couple of hours and make some time just for her? Celebrate who she is and the things she loves.... Show her all the beauty that everyone else sees in her. We can even provide a tween/teen-appropriate makeup lesson if she's starting to become interested in makeup, do her hair, and pamper her with her favourite treats. Then we'll capture a range of beautiful portraits that capture the many aspects of herself. She can bring her BFF's, siblings, or just make it about her. I have fallen in love with these tween sessions. This beautiful preteen visited my studio with her mom and her older sister. The girls were going through a phase of feeling a little self-conscious, and we all know that growing up can be hard. We did their hair and gave them some shiny lip gloss and captured some portraits showing the girls' personalities and interests (they are musicians!). Then I offered them use of my designer gowns. This young lady's eyes lit up. As soon a...s she slipped into it, it was like she was transformed. So proud and confident, she just radiated with beautiful relaxed energy. Isn't she just stunning? It is such a privilege for me to be able to watch these quiet transformations. If you have a tween/teen who would use a boost, or who ought to be celebrated for the special and unique person that they are, it would be my pleasure to provide them with a beautiful session of pampering and fun at my studio. Look at all this sweetness! Love this age so much for photos. 6-12 month olds are so friendly and smiley and they aren't big enough yet to run away! But like the newborn days, "sitter" baby days are fleeting, and not a stage you want to miss capturing.
