Are you looking for signs of spring? At ERHS we can see the beginning of blooms in our tower garden and some bright floral pictures drawn by our middle school art classes.
With some new equipment recently purchased our Chem 30 class was mixing chemicals and measuring reactions during their lab on Friday.
What are these mad scientists cooking up? Well, at ERHS our Grade 10 foods class improvises when the aprons can't be found! Today was their first lab where 3 different kinds of muffins were baked. The school smelled great!
Happy Covid-versery!! Today is the one year anniversary of the Covid lockdown. This year has been one wild ride, and to celebrate the Student's Union held a Covid Spirit day with everyone wearing their "quarantine clothes." All students were given a commerative gift to help celebrate the day.
We are happy to announce some good news! Our school has been awarded $1000 from FortisAlberta for our environmental initiative. When students are back in the building in January we hope to get started with our "Grow Our Own Snacks" Program by bringing a tower garden into our school to start growing some veggies! Thank you for supporting our community school!
We know we have great teachers on our staff and feel lucky to have them at ERHS! Today we get to celebrate (and perhaps brag a little ) about Mrs. Neamtu and her special accomplishment! We want to congratulate Kacie Neamtu on winning an International Literacy Award for her research work done on her Master's Degree! We are proud of you! To learn more about her research and award, please read the article that was recently written about Kacie by the University of Lethbridge!... https://stories.ulethbridge.ca/becoming-a-literacy-leader/
As the last of our deliveries head out this morning we would like to thank our community for the overwhelming response to our Winter Fundraiser! BEST EVER! A link to your plant care can be found here: https://www.growingsmilesfundraising.com/plant-care
This is what over 450 planters, poinsettias, wreaths, and greenery look like! It smells great in here! Thank you to all who supported our annual fundraiser!
Today our Grade 6/7 cohort is participating in the 17th Annual Great Television Debate! One side of the class is talking about the negative impacts of TV and the other side is proclaiming the positives about TV. Each group is providing persuasive arguments. What side would you be on?
Our Winter Fundraiser is open till midnight tonight!
We know things are going to change in our building in a couple of days so we wanted to take the time to share good news while we still can! Our grade 7/8 cohort is participating in a Skills Exploration Day organized by Skills Alberta. They have joined 24 other schools across the province virtually today to share in an experience of creating and using a variety of new tools. We received a gift of $4000 worth of new tools and supplies from Skills Canada so that we could participate in this event. Our kids are happy to be involved in hands-on learning while we still can. We will post pictures of their building progress throughout the day!
Black Friday Sale, 15% off our school apparel from Nov 19th - 30th. https://erlerivershighschool.entripyshops.com/
A few more days to order from our Winter Fundraiser! Orders arrive December 3rd. Make sure to choose your pick up time.
Today we will be observing Remembrance Day virtually at 10:40am. We will be sharing this video, created by our students, followed by a moment of silence at 11:00am. The Royal Canadian Legion encourages all Canadians to observe a moment of silence on November 11, to mark the sacrifice of the many who have fallen in the service of their country, and to acknowledge the courage of those who still serve.
One week left to order from our Winter Fundraiser! Remember to schedule a pick up time on the ordering website. Orders arrive December 3rd. https://erlerivers.growingsmilesfundraising.com/home
Thank-you to Sandstone Motel & Lounge for partnering with us so we can offer hot lunches during COVID. Parents don't forget to check your emails and order by September 23rd.
Schools in all of our Horizon School Division communities will be closed on Monday, Nov 9 due to the winter storm.
This will be the last post of the night...but we wanted to share just how excited Mrs. Neamtu is that her team won! Have a great weekend ERHS families & staff!
3 Hours. 80 Humans. 1 School. 200 Pancakes. Erle Fest 2020 was a huge success! Thank you to Ms. McPhillips for organizing the event and for the rest of the ERHS staff for helping with set-up, clean-up, and the other little jobs that make events run smoothly! Thank you to the students who showed up and demonstrated lots of school spirit and hopefully had as much fun as the teachers did! Congratulations to this year's champions of The Mask-erade 2020: Mrs. Neamtu & the Grade 10 Cohort!
Sandstone Motel & Lounge really came through for ERHS today! Our hungry kids were left with smiling faces after the generous breakfast donation this morning! The pancakes, sausages, bacon, & yogurt really hit the spot! Thank you for supporting our school & adding to the success of ErleFest 2020!
Woo-hoo! Tomorrow we are celebrating our 5th Annual Erle Fest! Which cohort will be this year's champions? Ms.McPhillips is the mastermind behind finding a way for us to celebrate and have fun with our cohorts while maintaining our physical distancing protocols! Students will be getting their new shirts and @sandstonelounge has come to the rescue for our annual pancake breakfast! Thank you so much for DONATING the food for this annual tradition that our kids look forward to! We are so fortunate to be a part of a supportive community!
Well, Day 1 of 2020-21 is in the books! We'd like to thank our students for doing a great job of following our new guidelines even if it's not the most fun thing to do! Everyone wore their masks, sanitized their hands and we hope enjoyed being back at ERHS! The staff is happy to have everyone back in the school and we look forward to what this new year brings!
Tomorrow is the first day of school for ERHS students! FINALLY! It's been too long since we've seen your smiling faces. An email has been sent to parents with some information about re-entry guidelines to help make our first day back a little smoother. The information can also be found here. We hope everyone has had a great summer and can't wait until we see you tomorrow!
ERHS updated Re-Entry Plan is available on our website. https://erlerivers.horizon.ab.ca

Yesterday the Alberta government announced that schools will be opening with Scenario 1 which means we will get to see everyone in the fall! There will be some changes as outlined in these documents. We will be reviewing our ERHS re-entry document that was sent to families in June and following up with families in August. Until then, if you have questions, you're encouraged to visit the following site for more information. https://www.alberta.ca/k-to-12-school-re-entry-2020-21-scho We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and staying safe!
The staff of ERHS would like to thank all students and their families for their hard work and commitment to completing a most unconventional year of school. We have missed having students in our building but our fingers are crossedthat we will be seeing everyone on August 31st! Our office will re-open August 24th, until then, get out and enjoy some summer fun! Stay safe!
If you know a family whose child is in Grade 5 and will be coming to ERHS next year, please tag them! The information has been sent to Grade 5 families by MRES on how to join our Virtual orientation. Please call the ERHS office if you want to know more! We look forward to meeting our new ERHS families tomorrow night!
We would like to thank the town of Milk River for the outpouring of love and support for our grads yesterday, we are sure this is a grad that they will never forget. We are appreciative of the Milk River Fire Department and EMS for leading the way for our Grad Parade and to all the residents who decorated their lawns and sat outside to cheer on the Class of 2020. It was a beautiful night for a parade, we hope our grads know how proud we are of them. We would like to thank our... grad families for their support while we tried to find a new way of recognizing our grads during these crazy times. We are glad that you were able to present our grads their certificates when we were unable to. Congratulations to this year's valedictorian, Kathryn Court. If you weren't able to view the livestream of the grad ceremony, we are hoping to post a video of it soon. Once again, congratulations Class of 2020! See more

Next Friday be a part of the Grad 2020 celebration! Our grads will be parading through town starting at 7:30pm. Before the much needed rain the Bakke family built their deck. It looks like a great place to enjoy your online classes! Keep sending us your pics!
Have you seen our grad banner hanging when you've gone grocery shopping or going for garden flowers? The staff of Erle Rivers High School would like to congratulate the ERHS Class of 2020. We know this isn't the type of grad that you imagined but we want you to know we are proud of your accomplishments. In 2 weeks, we will be celebrating grad virtually followed by a town parade starting at 7:30 pm. We hope that our community members will come out to their front lawns and congratulate our grads as they drive by. A map of the route will be posted once we've finalized details. Thank you to the ERHS Booster Club for sponsoring our banner and to Milk River Home Hardware for providing us with a community space to hang it!
