Doggy daycare today. Bring on the
BREAKING NEWS! We were just informed that the Nanaimo City Council voted tonight to accept a new Animal Responsibility Bylaw. One that is breed neutral!! Nanai...mo is one of BC's largest cities, and has restricted "pit bull" type dogs for as long as many of us can remember. The issue has been brought to City Council several times, and dedicated groups of advocates have been hard at work over the years to champion fairer, evidence-based, breed-neutral legislation. Tonight, their work paid off, and their City will judge dogs by their behaviour, not their breed. Our hats go off to the incredible advocates in the community and the BC SPCA, which has always been a strong supporter of breed-neutral policy in the province. You have done amazing work, and we are sending you high-fives from across Canada.

PENDING ADOPTION Tony is a 5 year old Brindle pit bull mix. He weights approximately 90 lbs. I got him at 4 weeks old from a woman in Vancouver. He is neutered ...and is up to date on all his shots. Tony enjoys swimming in the ocean and lakes and and loves to play fetch. He is a big softy that loves cuddles but is often misunderstood because of his size and seemly aggressive bark. My wife and I had a baby on September first and since then Tony has struggled to find his place in our pack. Sadly that created a grey area with our baby what we could not risk. He has never bitten anyone. It broke our hearts to have to rehome him and after asking all of our friends decided to see if Island Pacific could find him a home. We have always fed Tony the best quality food and treats and has never had any health issues. He would make a great dog for a family with older children. He loves to play ball or throw toys for him. He is a very nice dog. If you are interested please email [email protected] for an application. MUST HAVE A SECURE FENCED YARD. See more

AVAILABLE YARA 2 year old Australian Cattle Dog *Special needs* This beautiful girl is a sweetheart and will love you unconditionally! She absolutely adores peo...ple, is good with older dog savvy kids and is looking for an understanding family to make her own. Yara is a 45lbs Australian cattle dog, spayed, housetrained and estimated to be 2 years old. Yara is almost completely deaf. She responds well to visual cues, so with training, her lack of hearing could be easily managed. She likes playing with well matched dogs and is currently living in a pack of 5+ dogs, which seems to suit her very well. She should ideally go to a home with other friendly dogs who can show her the ropes. She has no known history with cats, but is probably best suited to a home with no small animals. Yara has a lot of energy and needs to run! We are looking for a home that can provide a "job" for Yara, as it is difficult to tire this girl out. A farm setting/ acreage or at the very least a large yard with no other homes in close proximity would be preferred. Yara has a very loud, high pitched bark and we wouldn´t want any neighbour issues in her new home. Yara has shown some resource guarding around food/high value objects (especially around other dogs), so this has to be monitored. She can be a little mischievous and doesn´t like being alone, so being home alone will have to be build up slowly. Yara is very smart and is willing to please. Her story: "Yara was pulled from a shelter in Texas, where she had been seized as a stray, along with another female Australian cattle dog. It has been a traumatic couple of months for this sweet girl, having spent 10 days at the shelter, 16 days in a boarding kennel awaiting transport, a night with a foster family, a 3 day bus trip, and to top it all off, she arrived in heat." SECURE LARGE FENCED YARD / acreage / farm REQUIRED Please e-mail [email protected] for an application
