Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy (EBC) 22.11.2020

#GivingTuesdayCA is just 6 days away: December 1st 2020! EBC will be dedicating Giving Tuesday to rally for the Endangered Spotted Turtle. EBC has a rare opportunity to purchase 1 of the last remaining 25 sites home to the Spotted Turtle. We are so close to our target goal - just 18% left to raise. Let's ensure this home of the Spotted Turtle get's protected forever!

To all the nature lovers out there, Mount Nemo needs your help - URGENTLY! "Mount Nemo is a crown jewel within the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. This proposal seeks to remove huge amounts of Mount Nemo's highly vulnerable limestone aquifer, at the headwaters of numerous creek systems and Provincially Significant wetlands. Mount Nemo is one of the most biologically rich places in the world, home to endangered plant and animal species. It is a fountainh...ead, where dozens of stream and creek systems originate, including Bronte and Grindstone Creeks." To read the full email and learn how you can stop more quarrying from destroying this habitat follow this link: https://escarpment.ca/ebc-news/urgent-conservation-issues and click on the attachment from Sarah Harmer and Roger Goulet. Objection letters must be submitted before December 14th 2020!

This past weekend, EBC staff and volunteers teamed up with the Ontario Land Trust Alliance to plant 150 trees as part of the Climate Action Project! The objective was to increase tree structural understory diversity within a pine plantation at EBC's Phillips Peel Property (southwest of Arthur, Ontario). We hope that the planting will mitigate the potential climate change impact of increased Emerald Ash Borer damage. Many thanks to everyone who participated in the day!
