"Obesity is a very common problem in cats and leads to many health problems, including an increased risk of diabetes mellitus, heart disease and many types of cancer. Extra body fat causes increased inflammation in the body, worsening osteoarthritis. If there is already evidence of osteoarthritis, reducing inflammation and pain will help encourage your cat to become more active, which will speed up appropriate weight loss. Obesity can be prevented or reversed by being aware of calorie intake, body condition, and exercise." Our support team have many options and tips to help with getting a pets weight down, please call us at 204-661-2183 to get a plan started. "Obesity and being overweight have emerged as the most important disease processes in dogs today. The perils of obesity are far-reaching. It shortens dogs’ lives and can actually contribute to chronic inflammatory pain. The good news is that obesity is preventable. More good news is that even if a dog is overweight or obese, the disease can be reversed, normal body condition can be restored, and life expectancy can be returned to normal." Otodectes Cynotis - Ear Mites; ear mite infections in dogs and cats may causes intense itching in one or both ears, which in turn triggers scratching at the affected ear. An unusually dark colored ear wax (cerumen) may also be produced. Treatment from your Veterinarian will get rid of these pests. (This video was taken in our clinic on October 22nd, 2020 - pests do not care what time of year or how cold it is.)
