I think about it every night before I go to bed. What happens if we have a whole station that has to be isolated? I lose sleep over that, Chief Thomas said.

Great perspective by Chief Dunlop. Thanks for speaking up! It breaks our heart when we learn of bad outcomes where we could have made the difference but were never called.

Devastated to hear the news of Captain Savage's diagnosis. Please check out the article and visit the GoFundMe page if you can help out his family.

As part of our International Women’s Day Series we hear from Maryann Dragovan, the Secretary/Dispatcher for Cranbrook Professional Fire Fighters Local 1253. Mar...yann has served Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services for 18 years and is a member of the BCPFFA Women’s Advisory Committee. Today she shares her motivations for joining the fire service. I wanted to become a Secretary/Dispatcher because I enjoy helping people. It gives me great pleasure and I felt it would be very fulfilling to have a profession in which I was able to help people every day. I also appreciate and admire those who put their lives on the line to protect our community, and to be able to work as part of a team with those people gives me a great sense of achievement. We are so happy to hear that the City of Vancouver has recognized the value of strong leadership and has kept that ball rolling by hiring Chief Fry to replace the highly respected Chief Reid. We are sure she will be missed in Nanaimo where she will be leaving some big shoes to fill. Congratulations chief Fry!

As case counts rise and data comes in identifying the higher risk behaviour, we are again having these conversations within our ranks. We are looking at our habits in station and at home and looking for ways to do better. We know you count on us and we are working hard to keep covid out of our station and keep each other safe. We hope you are doing the same.... The easy steps are to keep distance, wash hands, wear a mask and limit social interactions as per Dr. Henry's recomendations.
