As you may have heard, the government has give the green light for dental offices to resume dental care. While we await the new guidelines from the RCDSO (Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario) to be released, we are hard at work getting organized to re-open. We are excited to get back to the office, but in the interest of safety, ours will be a gradual return to regular services. We are making changes to the way our offices will be serving our patients needs and ensu...ring that we have the proper protective equipment, infrastructure, and training for our staff so that we can continue to provide the excellent care you're used to in the safest way possible. We will be firming up re-opening dates in the next week or so, but please note, when we do return, our scheduling and hours will look a little different. Right now, Dentists in Ontario are only able to treat those with a dental emergency. The question is, what constitutes an emergency? If you’ve had an injury or major trauma, swelling, excessive bleeding or pain that cannot be effectively managed by over the counter medications like Tylenol or Advil, it’s definitely time to give us a call. To our valued patients. Effective immediately, and under the direction of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Essence Dental will be suspending all non-essential and elective dental procedures. This includes all dental cleanings, fillings, orthodontic visits, sedation and large work scheduled for completion between now and the beginning of April. As of today, we are working with a reduced staff, but remain open for limited hours for EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS ONLY (...ie: swelling, pain, infection, inability to bite or chew, orthodontic wires causing discomfort.) Please note, we will do our best to make you comfortable. If you are in need of emergency care, we ask that you ONLY contact the office via telephone where our staff will do a health screen and triage you in order to get you comfortable. Walk-in traffic will not be accepted. YOU MUST contact us via telephone first. Please be patient with us as we work through the higher volume of calls, emails and text messages. We ask that ONLY the patient being seen attend the appointment, or in the case of a minor, the child and ONE guardian. To ensure the safety of our staff, and other patients, no others will be admitted into the office. Thank you for your understanding. If you have a cough, fever, shortness of breath and/or have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days, are close to people who have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days or have had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, please DO NOT attend our office, your doctor’s office, walk-in clinic or hospital. Instead, please self-isolate and contact your local health department or telehealth at 1-866-797-0000 for further instruction. This is a very fluid situation, and we are doing our best to ensure the safety of our staff, our patients and our community. A note to patients regarding upcoming appointments: As of today (Friday, March 13, 2020), all appointments are going ahead as scheduled during the March Break and beyond. As an added precaution, all patients will be receiving a phone call the day before your appointment to screen for illness and travel as recommended by Public Health. If you are feeling ill, have a fever, cough, shortness of breath and/or have traveled outside of Canada in the last 14 days, your appointmen...t will be rescheduled without penalty, and you will be directed to self-quarantine and contact your local Public Health Office or Telehealth for further instruction. DO NOT report to your doctor’s office, walk-in clinic or hospital emergency department directly. If you wish to cancel or change an appointment for any reason, without penalty, during this uncertain time, please contact the office directly. Feeling under the weather? With all this talk of viruses like the flu making the rounds both locally and internationally, we thought it would be a good idea to remind our patients that there is no penalty for rescheduling your appointment due to illness. Not only does this give you the opportunity to feel better, but it also prevents the spread of viruses which keeps us all healthy. Please, if you're not feeling well, stay home until you're feeling better!

We're less than a week away from Christmas! We will be CLOSED from December 23rd to 29th inclusive so our staff can enjoy some much deserved family time over the holidays. We will return on Monday, December 30th from 9-7pm and resume our regular business hours on Thursday, January 2nd.
