Essential Steps 02.05.2021

A new to you, a new to me soap! I'll give details in a few days.

Essential Steps 18.04.2021

Here's the cut. Moringa gardeners bar packed with wonderful ingredients! Moringa powder, bone dust and baking soda combined to add the extra grab for washing the dirt off of your hands. Tallow, lard and coconut milk powder, chosen for the skin loving gentleness they provide. With a light scent of eucalyptus, peppermint and patchouli essential oils.... This is going to be a creamy, conditioning, yet gritty lathering bar of soap that's sure to please! See more

Looks like green tulips....perfect considering this is a gardeners bar. Another bone dust batch, this one is completely natural. Used moringa for this beauty, for exfolliation as well as the green colouring. It's lightly scented with Eucalyptus, peppermint and patchouli essential oils. I'll post the cut in a day or two. #coconutmilkpowder ... #bonedust #moringapowder #smellslikespring #tallow #gardenerssoap #avocadooil See more

OZZY This is my newest and most interesting (to me) soap idea yet! It's not for the vegan hearted.... It's my sudsy, creamy favourite to use recipe, (and my soaps all delight me, so this says alot). It's a tallow, lard, goats milk yogurt, with fine, sifted bone dust added to make this, a ready in time for spring, gardeners bar!... It's a beast of a bar and made in memory of Ozzy. A good friend of mine's beloved dog who passed away the day I made this. (sorry Ozzy, I was told it smells like the colour pink....) Perhaps Cathy will grace us with a photo of Ozzy in the comments section. Lightly scented with a blend of lavender, peppermint and nutmeg essential oils. More photos to come later in March. #bonedust #ozzy #reddog #tallow #goatsmilkyogurt #lard #avocadooil #soap #inmemoryof

I've started another line of soaps. I'm a huge fan of lard soaps and how well they respond to our skin, so it wasn't a far jump to try tallow. Gloriously silky, bubbly and.....richer feeling bar of soap. I'm a meat cutter, so access to beef fat is easy. This is my 4th batch of tallow soap. I made a blend of melaleuca and lavender essential oils for scent, half of my liquid in goats milk for extra body. She set up quite fast and I had to almost spoon my batter into the mold. ...Not sure how this batch will look, but soaping is always an adventure! #goatsmilksoap #tallow #soap #lavender #melaleuca See more

It's been awhile since I said I'd show you the pear soap. I made three batches and I have to say, tan, brown soaps are hard to photograph for me. But here's a couple pictures of each batch. It's hard to catch the colour depth... They are earthy essence I'd like to add an edit - the different colour shades are from using different amounts of the paprika infusion. The lightest coloured bar has no paprika in the oils whatsoever.

My soap recipes always have light coloured oils in them. This helps ensure a white bar of soap. When I decided to make my milk and pear soap tonight, I decided the soap needed a creamy hue, perhaps even a soft yellow bar. In order to achieve the desired colour, I infused paprika into my olive oil. This red coloured oil tinted my soap batter hopefully enough that it'll stay a creamy yellow colour. In the photo, the yellow oil in behind is the olive oil I use. The red jar in f...ront is the infused paprika olive oil. Love the deep hue paprika produces. See more

I'm back and let there be SOAP!! This covid year has proven to be challenging. My soaping came to a grinding halt many months ago due to circumstances but I am back in a soap supportive environment and I have finally unpacked and set up my soap supplies!... I'm working on a Milk and Pear soap. Goats milk and organic bosc pears.

I haven't been able to soap for the past month. Changes have been happening. But I haven't stopped thinking about soaping and of the direction I wish to take it. I will be back soaping soon. I am going to try tallow soap. It's supposed to make a great bar. ... I brought home some beef fat and rendered it down slowly. Makes for a lovely white based oil, just like lard. I'll make a 1 pound batch of soap to start. Will post it so you can see it as well. Should be within this week sometime. See more
