When I was that brand new mama I felt like my only option was #sleeptraining. We hired a sleep consultant and we used a version of the controlled crying method but I sat by the crib. I was told not to make eye contact with my baby and only respond at 5-10-15 minute intervals. Yes "it worked", our little guy started sleep better in a week or so. When I began my training as a sleep consultant, I was taught these "behavioural methods" and used these same method (or a version... of it) with our own 3 boys and many families in the first years of my business. Most sleep consultants in the #sleeptraining industry use these methods as well. . . About 5 years in, I began to ask myself At what cost?. Yes families were successful but I felt like I was constantly telling moms to go against their natural instincts. . . I started digging deeper past the sleep training industry and studying the principles of attachment and realized there was a different way to approach babies and toddlers & sleep. . . For the past 3 years I have been using an attachment-focused approach with families and I am here to tell you can still have success and help your baby sleep better when you follow your heart!
