a little stork scissor stamp I finished yesterday! little things like this have been the reason I haven’t been able to post more than commissions in recent weeks. a few people have asked me if I intend to post non-custom work I do for sale and the answer is yes! I would really love to have a nice stock of items I do for fun/for the love of it and sell through Instagram and my website (in the works) in the next few weeks. the truth is, I’ve been working on a big project that ...should be available for sale on here and a couple of really special local stores in the next little bit and getting that sorted + finishing up a couple commissions has been a lot on top of my full time job. I’m trying to not be too hard on myself not making it all happen overnight (lol) and I just wanted to say it means the world to me that any of you have inquired about that! so much love and gratitude for all of ya, hope this Sunday treats you well

here is another sentimental happy rant if anyone is interested: looking through all of the photos I have of finished work from the past three years, it shook me to realize I don’t have anything left. I have kept for myself: one 3 hoop of a tiny cabin (a comely dream of mine) and an oval hoop of my beautiful cat’s colourful face. a beautiful (forever) friend of mine recently claimed the last several hoops I’ve been hanging onto, and I just mailed the other three I had le...ft to London. this is wild to think over! there are literally !hundreds! of my own handmade creations in other people’s hands, in their homes, their cozy nests!! something I made! meee! the most flattering and unimaginable compliment EVER. even if someone who once showed me support by purchasing or even LIKING something I have put my heart into, no longer felt attached to that item anymore and donated it or gave it to a friend - they had once connected to something that I made and that has meant everything to me. what a wonderful, super special thing creating is - regardless of your medium, your sentiment, your style, if you share what you make you will always find another human that feels something for it and that in itself is like a lil spark of magic. feelings!! if you made it this far in this post ya know maybe it’s a lil cheesy but that’s my truth for today, and it’s here for me to reread on days I convince myself it’s silly anyone would care about something I make. I really love doing this and it’s softened me even more to have others take an interest and request more of me and my work, so maybe it’s also your fault?? all of this encouragement?? all of the sweetness? thank ü so so so so so much for all of it. -katie See more

hello! my name is katie and this is my overdue introduction to all of the beautiful people supporting me and my work! though Essex is a very familiar name to those in the area, for me it is a family name I hold very near n dear, and where I assign most credit for my creativity (here’s lookin at you, Essex clan!) I like being home and making things, especially hand-embroidered work. I appreciate a good rhyming poem and writing haikus. lately I’ve explored a little bit of ...digital illustration and tried my hand at carving rubber stamps for some pending projects I hope to share very shortly (!) in summary, I am a grateful homebody maker happy to be here and to be so well received I appreciate all of the inquiries I’ve received regarding custom work and I’m all for it! thank you for trusting me with your ideas and allowing me to share the wonderful art of stitch it’s my very own meditative magic and at this rate, I hope to pursue it more seriously in the future along with other mediums - currently, I happily work full time at an office and part-time managing properties for my sweet dad-o, however, there is always time for this tender activity I have always wanted to work from home and a lot of you make that possible on days I feel stuck or without inspiration. thank you all very much again for your endless kindness and enduring support during these strange times, I definitely feel the love and encouragement now more than ever and it’s more beautiful than I can say stay cozy!
