Do you have an online store? With the ongoing shifts in health measures and people's comfort, having an online store that allows for efficient shopping from home is a huge asset for a business! We've had the pleasure of working with several local businesses over the past year to help them pivot and provide their customers with the option of online shopping and curbside pickup. Not only has this option allowed them to continue to operate throughout the pandemic, but they... are also planning to keep using their online store in the future based on the positive feedback they've received from customers. I know that the idea of an online store can seem intimidating and that many business owners expect it to come with a long lead time and big price tag. However, this is often not the case! Many website platforms allow for the easy addition of an online store. And, when working with a client to update their website, we always go in with a plan that will fit their timeframe and budget. "It's not business as usual. It's business as best we can." With all of the changes to ensure physical distancing, there have been a lot of interruptions to our "normal" way of life and how businesses operate. While the direct effects on me have been less significant, for which I am very grateful, I know of many companies and many of my clients who have been hit a lot harder. Yet what I have found inspiring is how local businesses have been finding innovative ways to continue to serve the community, and how, in turn, the Edmonton community is working to keep supporting them. It isn't perfect, and it isn't what we planned for, but somehow we are all finding ways to make this work the best we can.

What to post about??? One of my goals for 2020 was to follow my own advice and be more consistent with my social media posting. I had a whole plan and schedule worked out for this month - I had chosen businesses I wanted to share on my weekly props and put thought into topics I wanted to talk about online, but then Covid-19 happened. And as you may have noticed, I've been MIA for the past couple of weeks. I have still been reading a lot of content and messaging with people, b...ut I haven't posted anything myself. In all honestly, I didn't know what to share. I want to create content that provides value for my audience, and everything I had planned out seemed irrelevant, considering everything going on. But I've realized as an audience member, that while I want to be informed, and value people's honesty and insight into what is going on, I also love some semblance of normalcy online. I like reading posts that have nothing to do with Covid-19. I like seeing happy photos from photographers, throwbacks from different events, pretty products & cute outfits. I think we still need to be aware of what is going on and take that into consideration, but not everything needs to be about this one thing. These are unprecedented times, and right now, we're all feeling our way blindly through this situation. And I think that is okay because all we can really do is take things day-by-day, feel what we feel in the moment, and accept that our plans for the future (both personal and professional) need to fit into a less firm and rigid structure. All of this to say, that while I do not know the perfect answer for "what to post about", I like connecting online so I'm going to try to share more. Sometimes things that relate directly to what is going on in our world, and sometimes things that I would post about if everything were "normal". But I would love to know what type of content to do you want to see right now? What provides value for you? What makes you smile or at least feel some positive vibes?
