PETL statement on PDSB Sikh Heritage Month event with Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh: That he and so many of our students and members would have been exposed to the kind of racism and hateful discrimination that we are hearing about is truly disappointing and unacceptable. #ETFO #onted #onlab Peel District School Board Elementary Educators Ontario NDP Andrea Horwath Peel Regional Labour Council

PETL statement on the safety of our workplaces and vaccine prioritization for education workers: It’s high time this provincial government put its denial and ideology aside, considered the advice of their own medical experts, and implemented a plan that actually considers the health and safety of our students, education workers, and communities. #ETFO #onlab #onted Elementary Educators Patrick Brown Rowena Santos City of Brampton Region of Peel Peel Regional Labour Council OSSTF District 19 - Peel - Teacher Bargaining Unit OSSTF District 19 - Occasional Teacher Bargaining Unit

PETL members and parents/caregivers of PDSB elementary students, this invite’s for *you*. Join us in allyship for a special online screening of ‘Backpack Full of Cash’, a powerful documentary about the *real* cost of privatizing public education (which FordNation and Stephen Lecce are hell-bent on doing in Ontario, if we let them). In 2013, history was made with April proclaimed as #SikhHeritageMonth by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (Bill 52) (Sikh Heritage Month). This month, we celebrate the arts, culture, and heritage of the Sikh community in Peel and throughout Ontario. #ETFO #onted #onlab

This month, we seek to move, with intention, from mere awareness to *acceptance* of members of the autism community with the goal of igniting change and improving support in education, employment, housing, health care, and long-term services. #ETFO #onted #onlab #AutismAcceptanceMonth

Education affiliates respond to the cover of the December 2020 issue of ‘Professionally Speaking’ magazine. This incident is yet more evidence of how out of touch the Ontario College of Teachers has become, and how desperate they are to exaggerate their relevance. #AEFO #ETFO #OECTA #OSSTF #onlab AEFO Elementary Educators OECTA - Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF)

On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we recognize the disproportionate impact on women who experience intersectional societal oppression including women who are trans, Black, disabled, and/or refugees. Since the emergence of COVID-19, data and reports have shown that all types of violence against women and girls, particularly domestic violence, have intensified. Truly, we *must* work together to eliminate it. #ETFO #onted #onlab

Elementary Educators are, once again, calling on the FordNation government to properly fund Ontario education *now* to avoid a full shutdown of the province. We understand that there are costs associated with putting additional measures in place for the health and safety of our public schools, but I would hope, Premier Ford and Minister Lecce, that you would agree that Ontario’s children are worth it. #ETFO #onlab #onted Sam Hammond Andrea Horwath Steven Del Duca Mike Schreiner Marit Stiles Kathleen Wynne

November is Indigenous Heritage Month, a time to acknowledge the depth and breadth of Indigenous culture and heritage across Turtle Island. We recognize that we are all treaty people, and that honouring the treaties is but one small step on the road to reconciliation. We also recognize as we all must that colonialism and genocide have had devastating impacts on the Indigenous peoples of this land, impacts that live on today. Visit the following resources:...
