Ethan's Training 04.05.2021

#Throwback to over a year ago, feeling like a superhero with @littletfitness at the last @calisthenics_canada meetup of December 2019 at @project__rise . It’s always great to see the community, have fun, experiment and connect with others through movement! Thankfully, it seems like we will be able to have more meet ups very soon as restrictions loosen up throughout Ontario.... Taylor (@littletfitness) is an extremely skilled athlete & coach. She is definitely killing it right now. @calisthenics_canada organizes events and competitions, and pulls us Calisthenics Canadians together. @project__rise is an incredible gym community, and has a special place in my heart. Give everyone tagged a follow, you won’t regret it. -Ethan #ethantraining#projectrise#calisthenicscanada#calisthenics#calisthenicsmovement#calisthenicsmotivation#gymnastics#bodyweighttraining#bodyweightstrength#backflip#frontflip#aerial#acrobatics#flips#flip

I remember back in highschool we had a test in Phys. Ed. called "The Beep Test". This test encompasses the running of 20 meters, pausing, then repeating again, until the time between "beeps" becomes shorter and shorter, forcing the participant to run faster, until failure of the participant to continue at the pace needed to reach the required distance or the participant QUITS. ... As I took these tests, the people around me would do the minimum result they knew they could get away with to show improvement from the last time as thats partially how we were graded. Others would do it and drop out before they even started sweating! People around you might be satsfied with mediocrity and they might even try to convince you to lower your standards in the process. I wasn't that type of person. When "The Beep Test" started getting difficult, with my heart pounding in my chest, and shirt soaked in sweat. I told myself that I ADORED my body's current condition. This always caused me to smile. What followed after that was always painful elation. I would keep going and only quit when my body was unable to continue, even if that meant I had to muster feral grunts to do so. All that may sound masochistic, and maybe it is? You can either accept your state of pain and turn it into pleasure, which will empower you to do your best with what you have. Or you can prematurely accept defeat. The choice is yours. "Taking souls" as David Goggins would say. Hahaha. Do your best. Even when it's hard. -Ethan #ethantraining
