As we all snuggle up with a good book escaping the latest weather shift to a deep freeze! We wanted to invite you into another cozy living room on Denman Island. This was a home renovation done by Etienne Design, the living room features high ceilings with exposed wooden beams care of Island Timber Frame, and the beautiful stone fireplace adds the necessary warmth to this room connecting all the warm elements of the natural tones of the walls and natural wood. We hope you are all staying warm during this holiday season, surrounded by family and friends.

This week we take you across Baynes Sound, onto Denman Island where we take a peak into a beautiful West Coast Design which features a very unique fireplace design. This Rammed Earth Fireplace was designed and built by Etienne and built with Luc Trepanier. The medium used for this fireplace was sourced from the owners property along with some concrete, making it low-cost and easy to build as well as a very efficient thermal mass. As you can see, the inherent design flexibility and durability of rammed earth construction allows for many possibilities for design integration of the fireplace into any space.

We continue our coverage of cozy fireplace scenes of Etienne Design's past clients. This next fireplace is found in the impressive home aptly named Eagles Aerie which sits atop a ridge just outside of Courtenay, with an endless view out across the ocean and to the Coastal Mountain range. This fireplace was designed by Etienne DeVilliers, was built by Luc Trepanier and the fireplace itself was sourced from Comox Valley Fireplace.
