European Football School 07.01.2021

Season’s Greetings!

European Football School 19.12.2020

EFS alumni Lauren Rea, who has been playing at Ontario Tech Univerisity for the last four years, has received the U Sports Academic All-Canadian Honour for 2019-2020. To qualify as an Academic All-Canadian, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 over the academic year while competing in a varsity sport. Lauren is in the final year of her Kinesiology program. We wish Lauren the best!

The final EFS Session for 2020 took place this past weekend. A lot of smiling faces! Despite this year being a challenging one, we have strived to provide training throughout when possible for our players. We hope to be able to provide even more in the new year!

2020 has been a difficult and challenging year for all and European Football School holds no exception. Despite this, we have strived to provide our dedicated players and EFS families with support and continued training throughout and when possible. This year has highlighted the importance of keeping our young athlete's active while also providing a safe and healthy environment in doing so. While EFS may have updated its logo, we are still the same football school that was founded in 1999. With that, we present our new video and thank all of the players and families that participated in its creation.

EFS is pleased to announce that two of our players has signed professional contracts in the last few days. Yigal Burk has signed with German giants FC Schalke 04. Yigal will be playing with the U19 Schalke youth team this upcoming season. Yigal has taken part in EFS year-around program since the age of 13, played for the EFS U21 team in Vancouver Metro Soccer League and took part in a few EFS tours to Europe and the US. ... Emil Gazdov has signed with Victoria's Pacific FC of the Canadian Premier League. At the age of only 16, this a big accomplishment to sign with the first team and Emil has great potential to take his talents to Europe in the near future. Over the last 25 years EFS has had many players sign amateur and professional contacts across the world. We wish both Yigal and Emil all the best in their clubs!

We hope you are well and that you and your family are staying healthy and safe. These are unprecedented times we are living through in regards to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, and we want you to know the EFS community is here to support you through it. As a valued member of EFS, we are reaching out to provide you with an update in regards to the EFS Program. Since March 12th, EFS has had to cancel it's Euro Tour with the U15/16 & U16/17 Boys group to Germany, Austr...ia, Slovenia and Croatia, Spring Break Camps in Salmon Arm and Squamish and the regular EFS sessions on Saturday and Sundays. Unfortunately, this has affected over 200 players in taking part in the sport they love, but the safety of our players, parents, coaches and community members is our top priority. With no change to the Canada Soccer and BC Soccer policies for soccer activities to resume anytime some, EFS has suspended all programs until further notice. We will provide updates and we hope to be back on the field together soon!

After 21 years and 22 trips to Europe, EFS had to, unfortunately, cancel the boys U/15 and U/17 trip to Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. 32 boys from all over the province have worked so hard training in preparation to compete on the European stage. 14 games where schedule between the two teams across the four countries. The plan is to reschedule this tour in the near future. We want to thank everyone involved with the trip's organization including parents, players, chaperones, coaches, and particularly Angie Venekamp and Kristina Anicic. We appreciate that much has gone into planning this trip.
