Re-think those short one-liners in your LinkedIn posts like I was quoted in [x publication]. Lead news reporter for Search Engine Journal, Matt Southern, writes: Going forward, the most successful posts will not always be the ones that get the most likes, comments, and shares. #socialmedia #socialmediamarketing #digitalmarketing

I’m so excited to kick off the #LawyerSpeakHER challenge(*) with Maneesha Gupta, intellectual property and information technology lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright! Watch the video to learn how she lands speaking roles and tips to be a better speaker! I’ve tagged partners Dena Varah at Lenczner Slaght and Awanish Sinha at McCarthy Tétrault on LinkedIn to introduce us to more women lawyers we need to see on the speaking circuit! Learn about the challenge and how to participate h...ere: http://bit.ly/2I2HGCP (scroll to the last section of the blog post). I look forward to seeing your videos profiling women-identified lawyers! *Previously known as the #LawyerSpeaker challenge. Thank you to accredited mediator Christine Kilby for perceptively seeing "her" in the hashtag. #diversity #inclusion #womeninlaw #legalprofession #legalcommunity

It was a privilege to co-chair the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers - Ontario Chapter conference with FACL Ontario President Gerald Chan earlier this month. I am truly grateful for all the hard work and support of the conference planning committee (big shout out to Vivian Sy and Justin P’ng for the multitude of hours they devoted), sponsorship team, and board of directors. Also, I am very thankful for the participation of all the sponsors, speakers, moderators, voluntee...rs (big shout out to Ryan Chan and Vernon Lin for capturing the memories including the photo in this post), and attendees in making the conference and gala such a success! Moreover, thank you to Jean Lee and Christina Liao for the fabulous conference brochure and Timothy law for the great visuals. Together we make a difference in the legal profession for Asian Canadian lawyers. If you missed the fireside chat with Justice Goodwin Liu and Justice Shaun Nakatsuru: - Justice Liu spoke about the report A Portrait of Asian Americans in the Law which he spearheaded and which study arose out of a discussion with law students; and - Justice Nakatsuru expressed how such a report would be helpful in Canada and he welcomed someone in the room to take on a similar project in Canada. Here’s the link to the report: https://www.apaportraitproject.org #faclON20 #inclusion #diversity #lawcareer #legalcommunity

Great topics were discussed at last week’s Law Society of Ontario, Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers - Ontario Chapter and South Asian Bar Association - Toronto Asian & South Asian Heritage Month event. A concept that stood out for me from the "Social Media: friend or foe?" discussion was the importance of in-person connections, which was raised by Aarondeep Bains (SABA Toronto President). Are you nurturing your online relationships offline to effect change?... Read my latest blog post for more highlights from this event.

Lai-King Hum of The Hum Law Firm relayed at a Law Society of Ontario event an unconscious bias reality that inspired my latest blog post -- a law firm partner was looking at a list of articling students to see who could help out on a matter, and she found herself not calling a student because she couldn’t pronounce the student’s name. Social media can be one tool to help reduce any fearfulness others may have in mispronouncing our name. Read my blog post for tips. #unconsciousbias #legalprofession
