Celebrating Sojourner Truth. A sister in the spirit of truth. She experienced tremendous hardship, oppression, abuse and injustice. She found the strength to create change. On May 28, 1851, a collective gathered at Old Stone Church in Akron, Ohio for the Women’s Rights Convention. Although she was uninvited, Truth spoke up during the meeting. Her presence at this meeting solidified Truth as a champion of women's rights.... I am so very grateful to the women of spirit and courage who dared to speak out. Their bravery made the world a better place in so many ways. Let's honour their effort by continuing to work for justice and peace.

I would like to share information on an event that is near and dear to my heart. A very good friend, her partner, family and community are working tirelessly to raise money to fight an illness. It is impacting her child’s life, every minute of every day. I don’t think that I could really say how inspiring it is to see how pain, fear, joy and love, become mobilized into never giving up. They are transformed into ceaseless action and belief in changes that come when people ...work together to create them. I very proud to be one of many sponsors of this event: On January 26, 2019, we will be hosting the 7th Annual Ref4Rett Event at the Brant Sports Complex in Paris. This year’s event will continue to feature two hockey games. The first game will feature an alumni game between the Paris Mounties alumni. The second game will be the last regular season game between the Paris Mounties and the Ayr Centennials. Along with the great hockey, there will be a silent auction. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000.00 for the Ontario Rett Syndrome Assocation (O.R.S.A.) and Rett syndrome research in Canada. Life can be very difficult for many people in many ways. We all have the ability to make it a little easier too. Smile at someone, pray, send positive thoughts: just give of yourself. Martin Luther King Day: An important day that reminds us that change is possible but sometimes requires great sacrifice. We are reminded of MLK’s great words that speak so many truths,my favourite being that only light drives out darkness and only love drives out hate. Bringing positive energy into this world is what challenges the negatives. I am grateful that he had a dream. I hope we can all work to keep the dream alive and move toward a world of inclusion ,justice , equity and most of all love
