C O V I D * U P D A T E from Laura Benson (today) Today I saw the Doctor for my follow up appointment. I have been given the all clear for Covid. Answer to prayer The reason for my setback the last few days is due to a new bacterial infection which we discovered with new blood work today so we will treat that with a new antibiotic over the next week and I’ll go back in next week for follow up to ensure that is gone too. ... I am so thankful for the great care and treatment I received from the Doctors nurses and staff at Abii clinic. It was so nice to see some of the nurses today who cared for me while I was admitted and thank them again for their excellent care and share with them I am now better Thank you to each of you who continue to reach out, send love and prayers it really has meant so much to me. I will continue to pace myself and allow myself to heal physically and emotionally from the toll covid and this year overall has had. Stay safe and I encourage you to continue to make choices with love wisdom and care for those around you in the midst of this pandemic

C O V I D - U P D A T E from Laura Benson Three steps forward one step back? Well I was feeling so good, had lots of energy was feeling productive and full of energy and strength and then just like that back in bed for two days straight. Maybe I over did it or my body is just reminding me that I still need to rest and I’m not out of the woods yet. ... I Could hardly get out of bed extremely exhausted but I am okay. Today I see the Doctor for my follow up and I have now completed all my medication. Other than the exhaustion I believe I am so much better. I will continue to pace myself and allow my body to rest and recover taking it day by day. Hopefully all tests come back clear in the coming days. Thank you for your prayers Stay safe

C O V I D + U P D A T E from Laura Benson The last few days have been a steady progression of getting better and better everyday - a few minor symptoms and things came and went but overall I feel so much better! I have been feeling so good especially the last two days I have so much more energy and I am feeling well rested.... On Sunday I am coming to the end of my treatment and isolation. On Monday I will see the Doctor for follow up testing and a check up to make sure we are in the clear. I just again want to say Thank you for your prayers love and support during this time. It has been such a beautiful sense of community surrounding me with love and has uplifted me during this time I encourage you all to take all the precautions you can to protect yourselves and those around you from Covid - try to do your part to make a positive impact and influence in this pandemic in your circle. This is a real and unpredictable illness and it can effect everyone so differently S T A Y S A F E

C O V I D - U P D A T E from Laura Benson I have been home and resting for a few days now. The first few days I was very weak and extremely exhausted. Today I have a little more strength and energy and I am starting to feel more clear headed. Still weak and tired but doing better each day. My smell is coming back and taste as well although I’m experiencing slight hand and body shakes/tremors still. My official diagnosis is moderate Covid 19 pneumonia plus a bacterial in...fection. I am on medications to continue to treat this for the next 6 or so days. I will remain in isolation at home as well during that time then return for a new covid test and follow up to ensure all is cleared. Thank you for all the prayers and support during this time it has been so encouraging to me and uplifting i appreciate each one of you who has called, sent a message, checked on me and helped in so many generous and practical ways in this time. I still have a ways to go but each day I’m feeling a little stronger

+C O V I D U P D A T E+ from Laura Benson I am home - and I am so happy to be in the comfort of my own home in my own bed.. I slightly over did it a bit last night attempting to clean after 6 days in hospital so I depleted the little energy I had.. but I am now resting although I am very very weak and exhausted.. long way to go but I am okay. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support

I have got the okay from the Doctor to go home and complete the remainder of my treatment plan and isolation from the comfort of home. I cannot thank the wonderful medical team and staff at Abii Clinic enough for the excellent care they provided to me over the last 6 days here. ... Thank you for all of your prayers and support during this time. I will try my best to continue to update on my progress and recovery. Still have a ways to go but happy to be able to rest and recover from home

COVID UPDATE- from Laura Benson One more night here - if all goes well tomorrow I will be able to go home after 6 days here. They will run blood work in the morning tomorrow to see if the bacterial infection is clearing. If it is they will send me home to complete my treatment plan and isolation from home. Please continue to pray that the blood work tomorrow shows progress and I am able to go home tomorrow. I am still experiencing cough, weakness, fatigue and a few other... symptoms but overall I am improving. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, called, messaged, sent a word of encouragement or gifts of care and support over the last days. I appreciate each and everyone one of you and felt so loved and supported during this time. I am also so grateful for the nurses and doctors and staff here at Abii clinic that have given me the absolute best care I will provide an update again tomorrow after meeting with the Doctor

C O V I D U P D A T E ... from Laura Benson I was feeling better last night and they thought I may be able to go home today - but this morning I began to have some hand tremors and body shakes - they checked my sugars and they were good - the shakes continued and we discovered I had spiked a temperature- they tried treating the fever and it hasn’t come down so they are adding another drug to treat the fever and have done blood work to check for malaria or any other reason for the fever. I won’t be going home today they are keeping me another night. Thankful for the love and support you have all shown me and the excellent care I am receiving at Abii Clinic here in Uganda

C O V I D U P D A T E from Laura Benson Was feeling a bit better yesterday but exhausted and tired Today feeling a bit worse - coughing more etc - some of my medications being increased today and adding a puffer to help with the coughing.... I am okay and getting excellent care here. Thank you for the prayers and encouragement Still admitted and receiving treatment.
