Celebrating International Women's Day this week! #ChooseToChallenge
February is Black History Month #BHM when we celebrate the accomplishments & transformative work of the Black Community. NL’s Black Community goes back generati...ons & includes Laurabel Mba who moved to Canada from Nigeria in 2000, moving from Alberta to NL in 2011. She enrolled at Memorial University of Newfoundland to study business while continuing to work in marketing & supporting the non-profit sector. She is presently working as Fund Development Coordinator for the Canadian Mental Health Association NL. A member of the St. John's Status of Women Council/Women's Centre, Laurabel hopes to bring a voice for Black women & women of colour into spaces they may feel underrepresented. She has made NL home & is working to see diversity grow in the province she has grown to love. #NLProud See more

From the board of Violence Prevention South and Central for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence: VPSC supports respect, equality, inclusion and kindness because #OurActionsMatter .
Hey Everyone! Great news!! Violence Prevention South & Central, along with community partners (Status of Women Central - SWC, Horwood's Home & Community Support... Services Inc., the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, Central Housing & Homelessness Network and the Exploits Valley Community Coalition) WILL be going ahead with our annual Random Acts of Kindness Day this year! However, due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, things will look a little different to ensure everyone stays safe. This year we have partnered with some fantastic local businesses to help us give back to our community, while also encouraging everyone to shop local during the holidays. Another big change from previous years is that participating businesses will be offering Random Acts of Kindness at their locations over an entire week this year (Monday, December 7th to Sunday, December 13th), giving more people a chance to receive an act of kindness. As always, we encourage anyone who receives an act of kindness to take a picture and tag us in your post or email them to [email protected] You can stay tuned for more information about this event by following our Facebook & Twitter pages.
Thank you to @Exploits Valley Community Coalition for helping raise awareness and standing against gender-based violence! #ouractionsmatter
Due to COVID-19, we unfortunately will NOT be having a public tree lighting event this year, however we want to assure residents that we have something special ...planned that will allow everyone to experience the magic from the comfort of their own homes. We can’t say much right now but perhaps you should tune into NTV News between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 2nd. The park will be closed to the public on Wednesday evening, but as of December 3rd, residents are welcome to safely enjoy the park within their bubbles and add an ornament to our community tree. The lights will be on from dusk until dawn everyday until the New Year. We ask everyone to respect the lights, decorations, and all the hard work that our team has put into making this Christmas special.
