Did you know? Hot Chocolate is likely the first way chocolate was ever consumed!!! Historians credit the Olmec civilization of southern Mexico as being the first to roast the fruit from the cacao tree, then grind it down and mix it with water and other ingredients. Archaeologists have discovered Olmec pottery with trace amounts of chocolate dating back to around 1700 BCE. Enjoy this ancient drink with us at the Okotoks Hot Chocolate Festival, Feb 10-20. Hey everyone, I have plans to run this event again this year. I think we can make the event friendly to restrictions if businesses plan for their hot chocolates to have a to-go option. What do you think? Would you try a few hot chocolates and stroll around town while you sip? Which businesses would you like to see involved?
