Events Lunenburg County 2020 Recipient of the The Jean Lane Award Events Lunenburg County helped welcome the Canadian National Women’s Para Hockey Team to our area with the TrailBlazHers program in 2019. The event facilitated; Exhibition Games, a school visit, open Try-It session, and a Coaching Clinic facilitated by the National Team and Hockey Nova Scotia.... At last week's National Team AGM, Events Lunenburg County and the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre was presented with the Jean Lane Award To recognize organizations who have gone above and beyond to support Women’s Para Hockey of Canada. They were blown away by Lunenburg County and felt embraced and supported by the organizers. The Best Western always goes above and beyond to make people feel welcome. Mayor Bolivar-Getson stepped up to help with game operations. For Lunenburg County, there is an economic impact that flows across the county and national events like this demonstrates the ability of Para Hockey Athletes and showcases our county. The Jean Lane Award Jean Lane from Medicine Hat, AB created SHIP (Sledge Hockey and Ice Picking) which was the group of individuals that brought sledge hockey to the rest of Canada. This award recognizes an organization who has gone above and beyond to support Women’s Para Hockey of Canada.
