We got called in to deal with a 150 gallon aquarium that was leaking. The aquarium needed to be drained and replaced. We ended up setting up a temporary holding... tank for the livestock and had a new custom aquarium fabricated that would fit in the same space. After draining the old tank and having a closer look, it was pretty evident that the fellow that installed the system originally, did a poor job with the stand, allowing stress along the bottom seems. Pressure tugging at the silicone over time, and it just let go. :-( Understandably, the client was a little leery of having another leaking aquarium. So, the new aquarium was overbuilt with this in mind. 5/8 inch thick glass, inch thick bottom, triple sealed seams and beefy bracing all around. We also added some more metal supports to the stand to flatten it out and stiffen it up. As the tank is fully visible on three sides. We had the mitered, trapezoid overflow box positioned back, center instead of in one of the back corners (as with the old one). The back panel (and overflow box) are black glass. And, all visible edges are highly polished. Visually, a much, much nicer looking tank! Details matter. The new aquarium is now up and running with the old fish in it. The client is thrilled with it. We installed a new (leased) aquarium earlier this week. It is the first time we’ve used the Aquatlantis aquarium stand/cabinet for one of our rental, standard g...lass aquarium systems. I have to say, I’m impressed. The gloss black finished, cabinetry visually mates with the cheap plastic trim that comes on all standard glass aquariums. Which makes it look like a sleek, matched set. Usually we would install a standard aquarium with a cabinet and canopy would wrap around the black plastic trim to hide it. Standard aquarium cabinets and canopies, look kind of clunky compared to this set up though. It’s nice to have a ready-made option now for clients that are looking for an aquarium system that is a little more sleek and contemporary than what has been readily available, without having to spend large on full custom aquarium set-up. We did have to make some significant modifications inside the stand though. All our rental aquarium systems run on sump filters the way the bruising is inside aqua way of this stands, there is no proof is inside it. Took a few hours to get the mods done. But I think it was worth it. South American Sea Nettles(Chrysaora plocamia) are pretty uncommon in the hobby, but are a much more spectacular looking jellyfish species than the more commonl...y available moon jellyfish(aurelia aurita). With their long frilly oral arms and bright rusty red stripes and tentacles. Their sting can be a little more potent than the moon jellyfish. But, most people don’t feel much of anything at all, or just a mild irritation. Because of the length of their oral arms and tentacles, they do require a jellyfish aquarium the larger side. A South American Sea Nettle with a 2 inch diameter bell, will be trailing 12 to 18 inches of tentacles behind it. We have numerous aquarium options available that are suitable for these sea nettles. Their temperature requirements are just a cool room temperature.
