It’s not always sunshine and lollipops around here. Some days it’s storms and shit swamps. #evergreenvegetableco #urbanfarm #urbanfarming

We are having our Thanksgiving dinner today. Phil is thankful for a king size bed to nap in and Fancy is thankful for the last bit of green grass for the year. #evergreenvegetableco #urbanfarm #rescuedogsofinstagram

A lovely afternoon in the bush with my Dad and Phil. We collected wild rose hips to be used in skin care and tea. Did you know these little beauties are power packed full of antioxidants and Vitamin C which are great for your immune system and for brightening and toning your skin? They’re also super pretty and I’ve noticed that the bears like them too because all the bear poop we saw was full of them. #evergreenvegetableco #wildforaging #herbalhealing #plantmedicine

It’s garlic planting day here. The last big job before winter. Well, besides clean up. It’s always a bit bittersweet as things wind up for the season. I’ll miss the excitement of all of the beautiful things coming out of the garden but I am also ready for a little break. I’m not sure where 2021 will find us. If I’ve learned anything from this bizarre year it’s that change is inevitable. We can either fight it or we can embrace the flow of it. I’ve spent a lot of time thinkin...g about where and how I really want to be in the future. I’ve heard the same from a lot of you as well. It’s been one of the great takeaways from 2020. Thank all of you who have been supporting us from the start and to those of you who have found us along the way. This year has been fantastic on the farm side of things. The interest in local food and inquiries about how to grow your own has been really inspiring. We have loved answering your questions and helping you get started. We will be spending the next few weeks putting the gardens to bed and soaking up that last bit of the glorious sunshine. We encourage you to take some time to get outside and feel the sun on your face before winter’s here. We wish you all a peaceful finale to this crazy year. Again, from all of us here at Evergreen Vegetable Co- Thank You Koszonom #evergreenvegetableco #urbanfarm #urbanfarming

Thyme always makes me think of Thanksgiving and hearty winter meals. It’s a staple in our house on poultry, roasted veggies and in soups. It’s so aromatic and easy to care for and will attract bees to your garden but did you know it is also full of medicinal properties? Brew a thyme tea and drink every few hours when you’re sick to help with respiratory issues and sore throats. Thyme also contains Carvacrol which can help boost your mood. It can taste pretty potent though so add some lemon, honey or stevia for flavour. If you are a believer of such things- put a few springs under your pillow to ward off nightmares Fresh thyme will be available by preorder for the next few weeks and in the farm stand tomorrow (Saturday) from 12-2. #evergreenvegetableco #herbalhealing #herbology #urbanfarm #urbanfarming

We harvested and dehydrated the Hops yesterday. I love how the finished product retained so much of the original colour. #evergreenvegetableco #urbanfarm #urbanfarming

Most of you know that Cameryn's Cause has had my whole heart since it's beginning in 2007. Even though our fundraising events have been cancelled this year we are still busy behind the scenes, helping families right here, in our town who need us. Next May we will be hosting a market day here, at the farm with vendor fees and partial proceeds to be donated to Cameryn’s Cause. If you would like more info or are interested in participating as a vendor, please send us a message. ... If you're interested in helping us at Cameryn’s Cause continue with this work please visit : https://www.camerynscause.com/donate Thank You

According to the United Nations the worlds remaining topsoil will be gone in 60 years. In other words, unless we find a way to save our soil- we have 60 harvests left. 60. Friends, is there anything more urgent for the survival of our children and grandchildren? Watch this film, it’s on Netflix and be mindful of what sort of industries you support when you spend your hard earned money.

We are the people of an advanced nation. What can we do? Stop eating factory farmed meat. Stop buying fruits and veggies shipped in from other parts of the world. Buy less crap made in China. Grow a garden. Raise some hens. Support local agriculture. Support a local fisherman. Let your kids walk to school. Vacation locally, learn to sew, make soap and buy less gas. The list is endless. Doing just one or two of these things makes a difference. It’s not hopeless. Humans are just lazy...
