Distance reiki is beneficial for those who prefer to be in the comfort of their own home or just needing that extra energetic support. Although it is not necessary, I highly recommend setting it up so you can relax and be undisturbed for 30 minutes or more as this will enhance your experience. You may also choose to journal or free-write after the session is complete. I am planning to offer these sessions once per month and they are currently FREE so you may want to sign up for all available sessions now as I may be charging a fee for these offerings in the future. The connection to trees has been so beneficial In July 2018 I had an incredible opportunity to donate a kidney to someone I will likely never meet. I had to travel to the middle of the city to have this operation. The hospital staff were great and the experience was much easier than I expected. On the day I was being reviewed for discharge, a fever spiked. The nurse told me prior to this happening that I would likely go home the next day. He told me that a fever would keep... me longer, and I also knew that the longer I was in hospital the more risk of infection or catching something I didn’t come in with. So I turned to the only thing I felt could help me... I immediately asked if I could go outside. Wheelchair and IV, my dad rolled me outside. I found the closest tree (which was few and far between in the downtown core). It was a tiny tree that had a cigarette butt lodged in its bark. It wasn’t the most ideal place to take a deep breath. I reached over and plucked the butt out of its bark and placed my hand on the tree. I thanked it for the incredible energy and life-giving oxygen and asked to help bring my fever down. I sat with this little tree for a moment, ignoring the sounds of traffic and hospital visitors. I ignored the smell of cigarette smoke from the patient close by on their smoke break. I ignored the idea that my dad might be wondering if I’ve lost it. I sat with the tree with my eyes closed and feeling into the healing and gratitude. When I felt ready we rolled back up to my room and into bed. Shortly after the nurse came in to take my temperature. My fever was gone. I was cleared for discharge and left the next morning. If you ever get an opportunity to hug a tree, please do. If you place your ear up against the bark you might just hear the sweet comforting silence it provides. And if you place your heart against the bark you might just feel the incredible energy that, to me, feels like a safe and loving energy. I always feel nurtured and protected when embracing a tree.
