GRADE 7/8 COUNTRY CHRISTMAS DANCE: Music: "Christmas in the Country" by Thomas Rhett Traditionally at Evergreen, students showcase their dance learning during our December Christmas Concert. ... Although unable to do that this year, our grade 7/8 class did produce a very special dance music video for the entire Evergreen community, and shared it with us during the last of our virtual Christmas assemblies. Thank you to the grade 7/8 students, Ms. Ashton for her help with the video, and to Mrs. Dupuis for finding new and safe ways in which to deliver the dance curriculum, as well as make the learning fun and enjoyable! NOTE: To preserve copyright, Facebook may remove 23 seconds of audio. Parent, guardians and students can also see the video on our School Talk Edsby site, which is not a public site.

To Parents and Guardians of grade 7 and 8 students! Take a look at the Health Unit vaccine clinics in our area. This year the health unit is providing Saturday community clinics to ensure your children have the opportunity to receive all mandatory vaccines. These clinics are especially for students in grade 7 to receive Hepatitis (HB), Meningococcal, and the HPV vaccines. Students in grade 8 who missed their vaccines due to school closures this past spring may also attend.

Please check your Junk Email. The NNDSB has been sending regular communications regarding Covid 19 and return to school and has been updating the main website ...and social media. Our data banks are updated as you update your email address with your schools. If you did not receive the recent survey or have received intermittent emails this is most likely due to spam filters at your end. For instance you may receive emails from your child's school but your filters may perceive mass emails from the board as junk. We hope this helps. See more

Happy retirement Mrs. Prud'homme! We have a lot of Eagles who want to wish you well! We will miss you!

Evergreen Heights Education Centre 06.03.2020

Good afternoon Eagles! It is now 2:45 p.m., and the dismissal bell has virtually rung signalling the end of the last day of school before the summer. Usually at this time, Evergreen staff line the front sidewalks to wave goodbye and wish all of our Eagles well as the buses pull away for the last time until September. This year we cannot do that; instead, we have a special virtual message for you. To all of our Eagles congratulations on another year completed! You worked har...d, and you demonstrated incredible perseverance, resiliency, and grit as you continued to learn through the school closure. We missed seeing you in person but celebrated with you the incredible learning you shared with us on Edsby, through email, returned learning packages and during our virtual classroom sessions. Well done! We are so proud of you! To our grade 8 graduates congratulations on a successful end to your elementary years! We wish you all the best as you move into grade 9. May you continue to soar to greater heights like the Eagles you will always be! And now, we invite you to click on the video for a very special, virtual send-off into summer from your Evergreen staff! p.s. We even added an Eagle egg (a.k.a. Easter egg - a secret surprise; not clickable) to the video. See if you can find it!

LOOK AT US LEARNING! Chloe and Nicholas in Mrs. Whiteduck's class shared their personal narratives with the class last week. They both did an amazing job with their sensory details, editing and revising their work based on Mrs. Whiteduck's feedback. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did!

Evergreen Heights Education Centre 06.01.2020

LOOK AT US LEARNING! Students in Mrs. Whiteduck's grade 3/4 class investigated Ancient Civilizations. Tracy chose to focus on Ancient Egypt, and the importance of the Nile river in people's daily lives. She has included a model of the Nile and some hieroglyphics.... Tristan explored the Ancient Britons, with a focus on Stonehenge. Did you know that the original site of Stonehenge did not always look this way? In fact, Tristan discovered that the first stones are believed to have been raised around 2400 and 2200 B.C. That's over 4000 years ago!

Good morning Evergreen Eagles! Bonjour! Aaniin! Today is Wednesday, June 23, 2020. Aujourdhui cest mercredi le 23 juin 2020. Happy National Parchment Day! Cooking with parchment makes cleaning up easier, avoids using cooking sprays and oils, and helps lock in moisture and preserves the nutrients in the cooking foods.... Today is Word of Wisdom Wednesday! Todays word comes to us from Ken Venturi, who was a professional golfer and sports commentator. He states that I dont believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you thought you could be. Todays Wellness Tips: Implement family quiet time In the hustle and bustle of our busy days, its easy to lose focus on how important it is to take some down time for yourself and to encourage this recognition in your kids and family as well. To teach the importance of quiet, reflective time, set some designated periods of quiet time in the home. Get some colouring books or sketchpads out for the kids, or a book for them to read something that they find enjoyable. Then, get out a quiet activity of your own and spend shared time doing your activities together in silence. Maybe put on some music, but make sure the TV stays off! Or Get your body moving! https://youtu.be/fpD9kRyBn8o Have a wonderful day of learning! Bonne journée! Miigwech!

Good morning Evergreen Eagles! Bonjour! Aaniin! Today is Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Aujourdhui cest mardi le 23 juin 2020. It's National Pink Day! Get out your pink shirt and celebrate! Or, take a page out of Mr. Sheepway's fashion book and grab your favourite pair of pink shorts!... Today is Trailblazer Tuesday. As a result of the Second World War, many soldiers were injured in bomb blasts, leaving them without the use of their legs and requiring a wheelchair. However, at that time only manual wheelchairs were available, and injured soldiers were unable to operate them without assistance. Canadian engineer George Klein created an electric wheelchair to be used indoors or outdoors. This new electric machine improved the lives of these soldiers who had already sacrificed so much, and started the whole field of rehabilitation engineering, which is dedicated to using technology to help people with disabilities or injuries. Todays Wellness Tips: Calm Kids: Full Body Stretch (https://youtu.be/xELgfiXSw-s) Or Cosmic Kids' Yoga (https://youtu.be/scSPqIqbwqE) OR Get outside and find a quiet place to sit or stand. Close your eyes and listen. What do you hear? How many different sounds are there? Can you identify where each sound is coming from? Have a wonderful day of learning! Bonne journée! Miigwech!

It was an amazing drive-by graduation day! Thank you to those in our community who made our graduates' day extra special! Thank you to Hope's Clover Farm for making and donating individually packaged cupcakes for each graduate. Thank you to Lindy at the Variegated Devas for lending us some amazing flowers and plants to dress up the diploma table and the photo spot.... Thank you to our Kearney and Emsdale Lions' Clubs, the family of Dolores White, the Anglican Parish of the Good Shepherd, and the Agricultural Society for sponsoring some very special awards each year. Thank you to Gloria Clark for decorating the sign at the school entrance to welcome and honour our graduates. Thank you to the amazing staff who worked from home and online to plan and prepare for this drive-by graduation. Thank you for being willing to work from home today so we did not exceed our safe number of people, even though we know you wanted to be able to celebrate with our graduates in person. Thank you to the few staff who committed to helping from the school for the full day to keep our numbers low. Evergreen Heights is truly a community school. We have all heard the African proverb that states, "It takes a village to raise a child." Today the efforts of that village came to fruition, and our grade 8 students celebrated the end of one chapter and now look forward to the beginning of the next.
