A Poppy collection box was stolen from Circle K in Shelburne. The importance of Rememberance Day from the Legion: Canadians often associate The Royal Canadian Legion with Remembrance ceremonies and events. Through these initiatives, we honour and remember Canada’s fallen Veterans and help ensure Canadians never forget. The Legion is responsible for planning and coordinating annual Remembrance Day ceremonies in communities across the country. For many, our most widely known ...activity is the annual Poppy drive that leads up to Remembrance Day. Legion members and other volunteers distribute tens of millions of Poppies, and gratefully accept donations to raise money in support of Veterans and their families. While November is recognized as a time of Remembrance, for the Legion and for many across the country, Remembrance is a year-long commitment. At any given moment, there are many opportunities available to anyone wishing to show their appreciation for those who served, including: - Becoming a Legion member to support Veterans year-round - Making a donation to the Legion’s Poppy Trust Fund at any Legion Branch - Saying Thank you to a Veteran - Wearing a Poppy - Honouring a fallen Veteran on the Legion’s Wall of Honour and Remembrance - Planting Poppy seeds or growing a garden of Remembrance - Visiting a cenotaph - Inviting a Legion Branch to make a presentation at a school or community group - Wearing or displaying commemorative items from the Poppy Store - Visiting the Canadian War Museum or local history museums - Volunteering to help Veterans, and more! Most importantly, take a moment now and then to reflect on the freedoms and peace in your life, and to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for all we have today. Although this is a tiny gesture, it is important to support those in our community as this makes us stronger and better, together, we are donating $100.00 to the Shelburne Canadian Legion Branch 220. Brandon will also take the time to become a Legion member as this is something he has always wanted to do to commemorate his grandfather. Every year we also plant a Poppy garden of Rememberance on our property and visit the local museum. Thank you to all the Veterans. Lest we forget. #remembranceday Anyone wishing to donate to the Shelburne Legion, can etransfer to [email protected] Security question: where does the money go Answer: legion Volunteers will also be in the back double glass doors Saturday November 14 from Noon - 2:30. Members can also pay their early bird dues($50) or you can pick up an application for Membership at that time. We Will Remember Them!

If you've seen these advertised, don't buy them. They're garbage. Last a handful of days before they destructed.....and they won't refund, only offer a discount on more pairs. They say once they're worn, the destructible is no longer valid. Does that makes senae? Took 3 plus months to get here. I guess they're only indestructible when not worn. Are you ready and prepared?! Living out in the country makes you extra prone to power outrages, especially in the upcoming Winter season. Sometimes it's for a few minutes, hours or days depending on the issue and how quick it can get resolved. Your space may not be equipped to be powerless. Your farm may be relying for power for various reasons such as heaters for livestock or lighting or fear of pipes freezing over, etc.. If you've been thinking about or meaning to get a g...enerator installed then now is the time! With delays in materials due to shipping and manufacturing, it's a good idea to get prepared sooner than later. Reach out to us now to get a quote! Pictured here is a 22KW Guardian Generator by @generac installed by us. Also installed was a new automatic transfer switch to initiate start-up of the new generator due to a utility power failure. As well as system shut down when utility power as been restored. This generator will run general purpose lighting and receptacles as well as the customers sump pump, well pump, gas/propane furnace, central air, refrigerator, freezer, electric stove, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. We are here to help you during the COVID-19 pandemic! Please be advised that due to the ongoing Global Pandemic we have made the decision to closed until we are told it is safe to reopen. We understand that during this time, essential living electrical issues (such as a stove not working which would cause difficulty in creating and heating meals) may arise and we wish to offer some help to our community.... As a form of relief to our community; - We are waiving the service fee and labour fee for regular calls.* - We will not charge overtime rates for after hours and weekend emergency calls.* This will work as follows: 1. Call our office directly at 647-987-8830 or cell at 519-217-8386 and speak with Izabela. 2. After our COVID-19 Message plays you will be asked to leave a message. Please leave a message with information about what your electrical issue are so we can return your call to discuss the options for the repair. At this time we also ask you a series of screening questions regarding COVID-19 such as are in self isolation or have symptoms of COVID-19. Please understand that we going to TRIAGE your request and are completing EMERGENCY repairs first. Because of this we may have to reschedule your appointment as more emergent calls come it. 3. We may offer a video meeting where you can visually show us the problem and we can better assess the issue. You may also provide pictures or video to the email or text that will be provided by us to help understand your issue. 4. We will offer the waiving of the service fee and labour fee of regular service calls. We will not charge an overtime rate for after hours or weekend emergency calls. Any material needed to complete the job must be paid for by the client or supplied by the client and approved for use by EVO Electrical Contracting. 5. We will book a time for our master electrician to come out and complete the required repairs while following the upmost strict COVID-19 safety protocol. it's that simple! We dont want to turn anyone away if we can help them but please understand that this is also a strain on us by attempting to help you out of a bad situation. Although other electricians may chose to stay open and available for service calls, our small family-run business with one apprentice has decided that it is best to stay home and self-isolate. No, we do not have the financial means to do this. Yes, it will be difficult. Yes, we will go into debt. No, we will not put ourselves and others at risk unnecessarily. Working together as a community we can all get through this! Stay safe, Izabela & Brandon *Conditions apply and we may remove or cancel this offer at anytime. Not all jobs may qualify. We reserve the right to final decisions of how this program is applied and to whom.

Curious about electricity? Want a simple easy science experiment for the kids? Or just bored? If you have a piece of fruit, a couple of nails, and some wire, then you can generate enough electricity to turn on a light bulb. Making a fruit battery is fun, safe, and easy. What you need:... - Citrus fruit (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit) - Cooper nail, screw, or wire (about 2 in. or 5 cm long) - Zinc nail or screw or galvanized nail (about 2 in. or 5 cm long) - Small holiday light with 2 in. or 5 cm leads (enough wire to connect it to the nails) Here's how to make the battery: Set the fruit on a table and gently roll it around to soften it up. You want the juice to be flowing inside the fruit without breaking its skin. Alternatively, you can squeeze the fruit with your hands. Insert the zinc and copper nails into the fruit so that they are about 2 inches (5 centimeters) apart. Don't let them touch each other. Avoid puncturing through the end of the fruit. Remove enough insulation from the leads of the light (about 1 in. or 2.5 cm) so that you can wrap one lead around the zinc nail and the other lead around the copper nail. You can use electrical tape or alligator clips to keep the wire from falling off the nails. When you connect the second nail, the light will turn on. How it works: The copper and zinc metals act as positive and negative battery terminals (cathodes and anodes). The zinc metal reacts with the acidic lemon juice (mostly from citric acid) to produce zinc ions and electrons. The zinc ions go into solution in the lemon juice while the electrons remain on the metal. The wires of the small light bulb are electrical conductors. When they are used to connect the copper and zinc, the electrons that have built upon the zinc flow into the wire. The flow of electrons is current or electricity. It's what powers small electronics or lights a light bulb. Eventually, the electrons make it to the copper. If the electrons didn't go any farther, they'd eventually build up so that there wouldn't be a potential difference between the zinc and the copper. If this happened, the flow of electricity would stop. However, that won't happen because the copper is in contact with the lemon. The electrons accumulating on the copper terminal react with hydrogen ions floating free in the acidic juice to form hydrogen atoms. The hydrogen atoms bond to each other to form hydrogen gas.

Hello friends, we have made the decision to close for the next two weeks. We do not make this decision lightly. We must do this to flatten the curve and stand in solidarity with other businesses who have also closed down and have our community at heart & in mind while also doing their civic duty as citizens. We are a small family run business with one apprentice. We will all be out income. We can understand why businesses want to stay open but it is simply not safe. We want t...o help protect our friends, family and community - YOU! ***Plus we have numerous elderly folk and children in our lives, loved ones who are immunosuppressed or working in the emergency line of defense. Our 2.5 year old daughter gets seizures which only surface with fevers. We want to protect all those around us.*** Currently the ESA [Electrical Safety Authority] is only doing priority Connections Authorizations [so people can receive, or continue to receive electrical service] in safe measures on a priority basis. If you require this, please feel free to get in touch with us via phone [647-987-8830], email [[email protected]] or DM and we can assist you appropriately. ***ESA will not enter occupied areas of the following facilities and we are following the same protocol: Long Term Care Homes and Seniors residences Hospitals Retirement Homes Day Care facilities Personal Dwellings including homes, apartments and condos Community Housing for non-critical routine inspections Please stay home. Call, write or video chat a friend. Check in on those with mental health issues. Grow something from seed. Make homemade pasta. Read something. Do a puzzle. Finish some yard work. Binge watch some horrible T.V. Wash your hands. Stay safe. We will update you the moment we re-open and appreciate your support and co-operation.
