I find that many people are not aware of the work that law clerks do. We work behind the scenes at law firms. Clients know that when they hire a lawyer, their matter will be professionally dealt with, but they often have no idea who is working on their file, other than the lawyer. Law clerks are entrusted with confidential materials and held to a high level of competence for our output, as well as professionalism. Our skill set overlaps in some ways with lawyers but we are not lawyers so our hourly rates are much lower. This allows work to be accomplished cost-effectively.
