We are pleased to announce that we are working remotely for the entire month of December to permit our staff to spend time with their immediate family and stay safe during the holidays. Any appointments or attendances at our office must be by appointment only. Our phones will continue to be answered by a live voice 24/7 and we will try to return any messages within 24 hours. We may also be contacted by email at [email protected], on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or any other... way we have been contacted in the past. Our team has largely worked from home intermittently throughout the past year and we do not expect even the slightest disruption in the service we provide our clients.

What do I need to apply for divorce? You’ll need your marriage certificate, or an original copy from the Registrar of Statistics (E-Health Sask in Saskatchewan). A photocopy will not be valid. Before the Court grants a divorce, it will also need your income information (usually both parties’ most recent tax returns) if you have children, and verification of a plan to ensure the children are sufficiently supported. ... PLEASE NOTE: We cannot provide legal advice to people who are not our clients. The above is not legal advice, but provides general information only. You should not rely on this information to determine your legal rights and obligations. If you have specific legal concerns, we strongly recommend that you obtain legal advice directly from a lawyer. Are my partner and I common law spouses? In Saskatchewan, parties become common law spouses after a period of cohabitation for 2 consecutive years. In some cases, for support purposes, parties can become spouses if they are parents of a child and in "a relationship of some permanence". These instances are not common, and are fact-dependent. How do I start the process of divorce? Finding a way to work with the other party is the best place to start. For most, the divorce process involves issues of support, parenting, and property division. For these, informal resolution is possible if the parties involved can agree. For a divorce, you will need to file a Petition at the Court of Queen's Bench with your marriage certificate. With an accepted Petition you can apply to the court for a divorce. You may also then pr...oceed with other remedies needed respecting related issues. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot provide legal advice to people who are not our clients. The above is not legal advice, but provides general information only. Do not rely on this information to determine your legal rights and obligations. If you have specific legal concerns, we recommend that you get legal advice from a lawyer.
