Are you guilty of being too hard on yourself? Most people are really hard on themselves and one of the biggest things that kills momentum is all-or-nothing thinking. Consistency is the cousin of balance. Just as balance isn’t walking the line of perfection, neither is consistency.... The pendulum of balance swings to the left and right as we go through life and the while the goal is to achieve a happy medium, that isn’t life. The key to balance is to not get stuck on one side and to let your pendulum swing from one side to another without judgment. This is how we learn life’s valuable lessons and allow life to be experienced in balance through comparing and contrasting these experiences in relation to what makes us feel successful. Do you define consistency based on your daily, weekly or monthly tasks? I invite you to start looking at consistency through a broader lens and reframing the way you define it, especially if you live a busy life where you are being pulled in many directions by life’s responsibilities, such as being a mom. As a coach, my job is to lead you to success by teaching you how to develop your own inner coach. By beating ourselves up we lead ourselves to wanting to give up because we feel so shitty about ourselves. I encourage you to look at consistency over weekly or even monthly periods not daily, otherwise you may be left feeling discouraged and want to give up on your goals. All-or-nothing thinking says what’s the point?! and you can respond by defining your goals on a broader timeline and give yourself more time and space to be successful instead of putting all this pressure on yourself today! There is always tomorrow to make up what you didn’t get around to today - and this is why self-compassion is one of the most important ingredients to being consistent.

This is the vicious cycle of emotional eating If we continue to fall victim to the same old pattern of eating to avoid our feelings, then we will never break the cycle Eventually we need to learn how to sit with our feelings and allow them to pass.... Emotions are the body’s response to the activity of the mind. As you learn to spend less time in your mind and more time in your heart, you will let go of this cycle that is causing so much suffering in your life. The question is how do we get out of our minds? The mind feeds it’s self on the past and future, while the heart feast itself on the present moment. If we want to get out of our minds we need to develop a present moment awareness practice. Luckily I have just finished writing my first book and it’s all about how to develop a present moment awareness practice! I will be releasing it in a couple weeks or less depending on how quick I can get it on amazon. The book will teach you all you need to know to get out of the cycle of emotional eating by being more present in your body and less in your mind. Drop me an emoji that describes the emotion that you choose to eat rather than feel

As long as you keep wishing to be different, you will stay stuck in a cycle of low self-worth by rejecting things you don’t want to accept. You don't have to suddenly love those things, as that may be too far of a jump, but we must first accept that there is resistance to who we are, as we are. Otherwise, we spend our time in mind where things cannot be accepted.... Full presence means full acceptance; the more time you spend in presence, the less time you can spend worrying about the things you don’t like about yourself. The human mind has this unhelpful habit in thinking that the more in ruminates about something the closer it will come to a solution on how to fix it. You cannot fix yourself because there is nothing to be fixed, only things to be accepted and then you can feel the wholeness to which you are. What can you bring more acceptance to in your life right now?

Self-love isn’t created by your reflection in the mirror or the number on the scale; that’s confidence. Self-love is a much deeper experience of yourself. It is a knowing of your worth while not having to do anything to know your worth. It is tuning into the essence of being that self-love is found.... If you are fuelling your weight loss journey by doing as much as you can so you can finally love and accept yourself, you’re going at it backwards. The idea is to learn to love yourself first and then you naturally make choices that support the love and worth you feel for yourself. These choices will lead to cultivating the body that makes you feel confident while complimenting the love you feel for yourself regardless of how your body looks. This is when you truly know you’ve made it on the weight loss journey.
