We're pleased to announce the store is re-opening Thursday, May 14! To celebrate, we're offering FREE TAILORING. Doesn't matter where you bought them, if you're finding your clothes aren't fitting like they used too and you've put on the dreaded COVID-15, bring them in for FREE tailoring until June 15. Now, let's get down to the fine print of what re-opening our doors looks like: With the recent announcement from the Alberta government regarding Phase 1 of it's Relaunch Strategy, we're busy setting up the store to re-open on May 14, to meet (and exceed) the health and safety directives established by AHS. At the store, we have the good fortune of ensuring social distancing is manageable. It won't be business as usual-- as a family-owned small business, we are taking every cautionary measure necessary and we are fully confident that the measures we are preparing to put in place will keep our customers and staff safe and healthy. This is what you can expect: We will be keeping the number of persons in the store to under 15 at a time so while shopping, you'll never be in harm's way and our store will always be under capacity for maximum group size. All of our staff will be wearing cotton washable masks, and we will have additional cotton washable masks available complimentary, to those customers who would feel more comfortable shopping with a mask on. We will be taking additional steps to sanitize and clean the store at regular intervals during operating hours. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the store, as well, you'll have access to our sinks to wash your hands should your wish. We are asking that customers embrace cashless payment methods, such as credit or debit. We are asking that any of our staff or customers who are feeling unwell to stay home. We will be resuming modified business hours starting May 14. We will be open 10:00 - 6:00 pm Monday to Friday and 9:30-5:30 pm Saturdays. For those who are more comfortable shopping with enforced social distancing, we are offering appointment services Thursday and Friday evenings. This has been such a challenging time for so many of us. It certainly has helped us appreciate what’s important, the health of our friends, families and the community at large. As we look towards slowly finding some semblance of life prior to Covid on May 14th. I wanted to bring to light one glaring problem with the government’s rental aid program. In the case of my family buissness we are down 100% as we have closed for the last 2 months. From our standpoint the glaring flaw... in this program is that it hinges on landlords to apply for the program, and take the 25% reduction in their usual rent. I think that most smaller landlords who have a relationship with there tenants will approach this as a partnership and do the right thing. However in many instances including ours, landlords have advised their tenants that they have no intention in filing for this program as they clearly feel that they should be immune to the financial effects of the Covid 19 pandemic. Clearly the tenants are doing there part, the government is pitching in yet some of these large landlords can’t bring themselves to do the right thing and bare any financial burden. This program needs to be mandatory for landlords to apply for, or better yet empower the tenants to apply. It has been inspiring to see how much our community at large has come together to support each other during this difficult time. Which makes it all the more heartbreaking when large management companies seem to think that they don’t need to do their part. Please share if you agree that this needs to be addressed.
