It’s that time again! We are out of hibernation and ready for SPRING! Here’s a couple do it yourself #cleaning tips from our Exact Extract Blog! . 1.)A great way to clean sponges: mix 3/4 cup of bleach in one gallon of water, and soak the sponge for at least five minutes. If you don’t want to use bleach, microwaving the sponge is one of next best options for killing germs (this method may not kill all e-coli bacteria and certain strains of bacteria) 2.) Try to vacuum #...carpets and area rugs weekly. Remember to maintain a carpet’s warranty; you may need to have it cleaned #professionally every 12-18 months! A microfiber or lint-free cloth is the best way to dust fixtures and bulbs you can reach. Try an extendable duster for ceiling fans. 4.)To clean grimy bulbs, lightly dampen your cloth with vinegar. Make sure light bulbs are off and cool to the touch before cleaning. Spring cleaning is also the perfect opportunity to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors! For wood furniture, use a homemade recipe to make an all-natural cleaner and polish: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil and 1/2 cup of vinegar or lemon juice in a plastic spray bottle; shake well and spray onto a microfiber cloth. Try to wash windows on a cloudy day. If it’s too sunny, the cleaning solution will dry too fast and may leave streaks. 5.)Sliding door tracks can catch a lot of dirt and dust from winter which can track into the home. Try scrubbing the tracks with an old, dry toothbrush to loosen debris, then using your vacuum hose to remove it. Finish with a wet sponge. 6.)Grab someone to help move your sofa and chairs, pick up area rugs, and then vacuum the floors. Move your kitchen appliances away from the wall and wash/vacuum behind. 7.) Give your baseboards, door frames, and walls a good scrub-down at least once a year. Wash them with a sponge and a few drops of dish washing liquid mixed in a bucket of warm water.
