Ontario Government Feb. 8th announcement. After yesterday's announcement, we are waiting for confirmation on which colour zone Durham region will be placed into on Feb. 16th. To help you to get your workouts in, here are the extended gym hours from Wednesday Nov. 25th to Sunday Dec. 20th: Monday to Friday 5:30am to 12:30am Saturday 7am to 7pm Sunday 8am to 6pm

Starting Monday Nov. 23rd Durham Region will be in Red Zone for 28 days. Excel will be implementing the new restrictions and policies on Wednesday Nov. 25th. We are committed to stay open as many gyms have closed. To ensure Excel stays open, full cooperation from all members is needed. Following are Red Zone restrictions for gyms in Ontario:... *10 people limit (no more then 10 members at once) *1 hour workouts *9 feet apart Failure to comply can result in fines for gym/members and/or gym closure. Here is what Excel are doing to help accommodate and ensure equal access for all members: *Gym hours will be extended (starting Wed. Nov. 25th) *Appointments only, can be booked 2 weeks in advance, appointments can not be changed. *3 workouts a week *1 hour workouts (Ontario restriction). No exceptions, offenders will have their memberships revoked immediately. We will be taking appointments starting Monday November 23rd, appointments can only be made in person. Members who are not comfortable with the new restrictions and policies, we strongly encourage you to pause your membership (no cost). Thank you for your cooperation, let's make the best of a difficult situation.

Safety is our priority, following are Excel reopening Guidelines and Protocols. For safety of all members this will be strictly enforced, offenders will have their membership revoked. Upon entry each member will receive their own disinfectant bottle, it's mandatory to wipe down each machine after use. Mask, members are to wear a mask as much as possible and maintain 6 feet apart. ... Sanitizer stations will be set up throughout the gym. Daily gym disinfection. Members must put away weights after use, no chalks allowed. Cardio machines will be 6 feet apart. Water fountains will be turned off. Lockerooms will be open but showers will be closed, we strongly encourage you come dress to workout. All workouts will be limited to 1 hour and 25 minutes, no appointments needed. While we were away, we've been busy making the gym better. Looks like reopening will be next Friday or the following Friday!

Ladies and Gentlemen get ready!! Today Ontario government officially announced Phase 3 businesses (gyms included) reopening starting Friday July 17. Similar to Phase 2 it's being done regionally, Pickering (Durham) along with other GTA regions are being temporarily held back. There will be government updates every Monday to announce additional regions to be permitted. ... Wait is almost over...see you soon!

It's Getting Closer! Now that Pickering has been included in Phase 2 of businesses reopening, it appears gyms will be part of Phase 3, so far no exact date from Ontario government but it will be sometime in July, as GoodLifes in Durham have stated they will reopen on July 13. Won't stay empty for much longer! Excel won't go away that easy, just waiting for government's go ahead. Don't worry, didn't sell any weights or equipment, it's all there.

Looks like we have to keep doing pushups at home. Was never great at it, getting better each day. Yesterday Ontario government announced a 2 weeks closure extension for all non-essential businesses. So no gym for at least 2 more weeks.

Dear Members and Friends, During our closure all memberships will be extended and all payments will be on hold. Want to give special thanks to all First Responders and Health Care Workers who put themselves at risk everyday to ensure our health and safety.... TSN The Long Shot Check it out. It's an amazing story about former Excel brother Nathan Shepherd who now plays Defensive Tackle for NFL New York Jets. It was aired multiple times on TSN Sportscenter this week, part of it was shot at Excel.
