Temperature screenings are required for all passengers travelling to Canada or travellers departing Canadian airports for either domestic or international destinations. This is a standard check that our passenger services employees are performing at departures on behalf of our airline partners. This may be in addition to existing health check questions. It’s Friday and it’s time for another lesson in airport / aircraft services for #FunFactFriday Today we’re going to learn about boarding stairs or airstairs. BOARDING STAIRS: Boarding stairs (airstairs) are used for passengers to deplane or board an aircraft when the plane is at a remote bay or the use of a jetbridge is unavailable. Many small to medium size airports do not have a jetway or mobile stairway to board or exit aircraft. The features of airstairs can vary... depending on the aircraft or tarmac. For example we would use different stairs for private jets visiting one of our FBOs, different stairs for cargo and different stairs for a commercial airline with passengers. The safety of our team members, airline partners and travellers has always been our top priority. Innovation in airline services is another. In response to the global Covid-19 outbreak we took swift action in the early days to bring fogging research, resources, and procedures to our national airline partners. On top of our standard aircraft grooming procedures, fogging enables us to thoroughly disinfect an aircraft with little downtime. Disinfectant fog settles into surfaces and cracks you can’t reach with other cleaning methods. We are proud of the innovations we have made as a company to improve our business and the industry during this unprecedented time.

We’re putting our commitment to safety and sustainability from the ground up into action. One of the projects we’ve had the opportunity to get off the ground during the last few months of quieter operations in air travel is transitioning to electric Ground Service Equipment (GSE). It’s no surprise that the airline industry faces pressures to limit their carbon footprint. Moving to electric GSE, in support of our airline partners and industry goals, will revolutionize our ground operations by providing cleaner and more energy-efficient technology.
