Welcome to Monday Minutes with me, Judy Heumann! This Monday, I will talk about some lessons I have learned recently! 2020 has taught us all a lot about oursel...ves, the disability community, and technology! Please comment below how you are doing these days and what lessons you have learned! Video Description and Transcript: *intro with a still picture of Judy Heumann. Judy is a cis-gender white woman who uses a wheelchair. She has short, brown hair and glasses. She is wearing red lipstick, a pink, white stripe patterned cardigan over a pink shirt. She is sitting in her dining room. Behind her is a table with books on it, many plants, and windows. Next to Judy’s head on the right hand side is a graphic of a thought bubble and inside the thought bubble is black text that reads 2020? and then the surprised emoji underneath it. In the upper left corner is a navy blue blob-shaped text box with white handwritten text that reads What is a lesson I have learned recently? and underneath that is text that reads Monday Minute with Judy Heumann. *Excerpt of Grace and a Tender Hand by Gaelynn Lea fades in and out. Joyful, fiddle music* *Judy speaking* Welcome back to the Monday Minute. Today, I am going to talk a little bit about some lessons I’ve learned during 2020. And let me say, I’d love to hear some of the lessons you’ve learned! First that we are resilient. And resilience is, as disabled people and allies, what has enabled us to move forward. *Graphic with a grey background appears* *Judy continues speaking* I had no idea when this year started out, knowing that my book would come out February 25th *on the grey background, a picture of Judy’s memoir Being Heumann pops up with yellow accents pointing towards the image* that Crip Camp was going to be coming out on March 25th, *a picture of the Crip Camp film art appears with olive accents pointing towards the image* and then I got this great opportunity to be on Trevor Noah on March 4th, * a picture of Judy Heumann with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show appears with red accents pointing towards the image. Underneath the image text jiggle back and forth that reads What a year!* *graphic fades out and Judy continues speaking* that around March 6th, the COVID virus would hit, and that we would be basically altering our lives for an unknown period of time. I’ve learned that Zoom is great. Really glad it’s here. But, that I really miss people. So let us know how you are! And I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Lo-fi piano, jazz music fades back in YouTube outro graphic fades in. A graphic with a grey background and a black and white picture on the right of Judy at the 504 protests. On the top left there is bold white text that reads Thank you for watching and below that are her social media handles.
