A spring hike near Nordegg with Mount Baldy (Shunda Mountain) in the background. The top of this mountain has a fire lookout and communication towers. You can ...drive to a parking lot most of the way up, but the road can be rough with water trenches. There is another Mount Baldy in the Kananaskis River Valley, so if you are looking up trail information make sure you include Nordegg or Shunda Mountain in your search. Shunda Mountain is a beautiful part of the David Thompson Country Tourism Region. #DTCountry When you are done this easy 6km round trip hike you can enjoy some delicious food or treats in Nordegg at one of the restaurants or gas stations. Please help keep the trails and trail heads clean. Don’t leave any garbage, including apple cores and banana peels, and pick up after your pets. A beautiful view of Abraham Lake while hiking the Allstones Lake Trail. This is a steep long climb of ~ 8km round trip and is rated difficult. Allstones Lake h...as some unserviced camping spots if you are willing to carry your gear up. The area is usually quite peaceful with some amazing views with every step. Allstones Lake Trail is just off the David Thompson Highway along the northeast end of Abraham Lake, west of Nordegg in Clearwater County, a very scenic and challenging part of David Thompson Country. #DTCountry If you are looking for services Nordegg has 2 gas stations, restaurants, a hotel, and many cabins to rent, and Rocky Mountain House is about 50 minutes to the east and has all services.
