We use Nose Hill daily, we make sure that we are doing things safely for everyone as I have been in this gentleman's shoes with a dog being chased down by coyotes and bitten, and it is scary. Many days when using the parks, my dogs are kept on leash. It is not because I am mean and don't want them off leash, it's more of a safety issue. Clients ask me about boots all the time. The key to a boot is not oversizing your dog. These boots fit large and its deceiving when you are sizing. For example - my GSD, although her feet look big she only wears a Medium and even the mediums are big, but a small is a bit too small. Another example is my Cocker....who although her feet look huge as well, as they are mostly floof.....she actually wears an Extra Small. ... We fit my Golden yesterday, and luckily I had some spares at the house to try on her, was thinking medium.....but then I tried a small, and it was the correct fit. If you buy muttluks and you find your dog cannot walk properly in them or you find they fall off, you need to size DOWN. If your dog is a heavy runner, you do not want to cheap out on booties. You will want leather foot bed and if you can find a leather toe. In winter, get the thicker boot. I like the heavier duty Muttluks for my crew, I find them.fairly simple to get on. And if sized right they don't normally fall off. You can buy at Muttluk boot with a velcro closure further up the leg, they are called Muttluk Extreme (I think). If you are handy you could potentially sew a second or 3rd velcro closure further up the robbed sock. If your small breed dog is not a heavy runner you may want to look at PaWSH PADS (Paws) as they have a great double closure and they are a bit softer. With this brand of bootie you need to size down. I do not recommend this boot for a heavy runner, as I find the construction to be a bit weak. If you do a lot of hiking or pavement walking I love the CE (Canine Equipment) All Terrain boots with the Vibram outsole. With this boot please make sure that you are fitted properly. These are typically sold in pairs as front feet are larger than back feet, and thus need proper fitting. A similar boot is out by RC Pets, they come in set of 4. I have not looked at them yet, I did notice they have a 3x closure and Vibram outsole. I hope this helps when picking boots for your pup. I am always happy to take your pup shopping for a well fitted boot to help keep your pups safe from the elements.
