Being in a "flow" is not an imagined experience, guys. Your brain actually enters a level of functioning where it is challenged enough that you are growing, but not so challenged that the task seems impossible. This "flow" state makes time pass quickly and our creativity is put on overdrive. But. You may be preventing yourself from getting there! Make sure you take care of these three things to give yourself the space to work. 1) Turn Your Phone Off! No calls, no texts, no so...cial media. . 2) When working on a large project, like a new aria or writing a new song from scratch, break it into one smaller goal that you can effectively work towards. If it is learning an aria, give yourself the goal of practicing sliding between all of the notes while engaging your support. If you are writing a song. Decide that today will be the day you play with chord progressions, working towards a few options which you will review the next session. . 3) Don't just jump right into your big picture goal for the day. Our brain and bodies need a moment to warm up if we want the best results from them, just like an athlete.
