Our home is blessed to care for so many Veterans & Veterans Wives Today, we were honoured to pay tribute to their courage, valour and sacrifice. Although our Remembrance Day Ceremonies were a little different from what we are used to, they were still beautiful in their own way. Thank you to The Sudbury & Manitoulin District Legions, MP and MPPs for hosting a Virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony, that we were able to stream on our smart TVs and iPads over the past few days to ...ensure social distancing. Canada’s Veterans Affairs also sent us posters, Canada Remembers Newspapers, colouring sheets, bookmarks and poppies. We would also like to thank Pam for the beautiful hand painted display of In Flanders Fields. It is with great excitement, that we share that our NEW & IMPROVED Tuck Shop has officially opened for business! A BIG Thank You to #teamyork for identifying an opportunity to improve our residents onsite shopping experience during the pandemic! Thanks to Ian Craig, Environmental Services Manager and his team for their hard work and dedication in this renovation project! In addition we would like to thank our Residents’ Council and Family Council for their support in our up...grades, along with our Resident Program Manager and Activity Dept. for managing the day-to-day operations and inventory! Our Tuck Shop hours remain the same as we work towards training our Residents’ Council Volunteers and recruit Registered Volunteers to support us. Our Tuck Shop is opened: Monday-Sunday 11:15am-11:30am 3:30pm-3:45pm 8:30pm-8:45pm *Roving Tuck Cart (floor-to-floor) every Monday from 2:00pm-4:00pm* A friendly reminder that only 2 shoppers are permitted in the Tuck Shop at a time to ensure social distancing. In addition, hands must be sanitized upon entry. The Tuck Shop will continue to operate in the same fashion: cash or coupon ONLY and NO refunds or exchanges. Thank You Mr. Faulkner for spearheading the RMC project at Extendicare York! We appreciate your ongoing efforts on Resident Council and recognizing ways we could do better for our home and environment! Effective October 2nd, each Nursing Station and our Maintenance Office is now equipped with RMC buckets, which will be picked up on a monthly basis to properly dispose used batteries. Something very exciting happened today with our resident aquarium!! Over the past weekend our fish have been burrowing in the aquarium and to our surprise... we now have fry (baby fish)! It was a very exciting day today as the news floated throughout our home. A few of our residents and staff came down for a visit to see our new additions!

Tomorrow, Extendicare York is flashing back to The 1950’s! We hope you have your poodle skirts, saddle shoes, brylcreem and leather jackets handy, because our jukebox is ready for a real nifty time! Our staff & residents are going to flip their lids over our Soda floats and popcorn! Staff are invited to celebrate with our Cheer Crew in the Activity Room during their breaks from; 11am-1pm, 4pm-5pm and night shift drop-ins. Our residents will celebrate with our Activity Dep...t. during a Hallway Social at 2pm on all floors!
